“Great brewery on Ocracoke Island. Located at the edge of town right next to Howards Pub. It is a fairly large place with lots of outside seating. All of the beers I tried were good and some were great. Good selection. Good food can be purchased from Plum POint, located in teh same building, and they serve some pretty good food. Overalll a great experience.“

“Pleasant small tasting room in a seriously out of the way place. About 10 of their beers available in flights of 5. No food when we visited. Pleasant server. All in all a good experience.“

“Cool little local place w/a good beer selection, especially for Ocracoke. Had drafts, bottles, good wine selection, gourmet food,& a nice glassware selection. Grab a draft & a snack, sit on the porch, & relax. Prices are a bit high, but I’ve seen worse in places that aren’t as hard to get to! I’d stock up before I go, but it’s a nice place to stop for a couple brew’s or a bottle of wine.“

“Amazingly good selection of beers -- better than any I have found on Hatteras Island, which does not require a ferry ride for the beer distributors. I bought a couple beers, one for $7.50, which I later found for $5.50 on Hatteras -- a hefty premium for an extra 30 miles and an hour road trip ferry ride.“

“Good place to stop for lunch on a day trip, grab a T-Shirt, & say "I went to Howard’s", but that’s about it, it really is just a shell of what it used to be. No longer open year round, closes early at night, Local’s avoid it like the plague, & the beer is VERY expensive, even by Ocracoke standards! $7.25 for a Fat Tire or Macro Draft? Food still decent, but it’s almost all basic Pub Grub. Was really looking forward to getting back here, I had been several times in my Pre ratebeer days, it was a major disappointment. There are a lot more fun places to go on the island now, maybe that has caught up w/them. You shouldn’t go to Ocracoke looking to tic beers, you should go looking to kick back, enjoy the vide, & have a good time. There are a lot better places to do that now on Ocracoke than here.“

“A nice oasis of craft beer on Ocracoke, and probably the best place in the Outer Banks outside Chips Wine & Beer Market. That being said, the prices are very high. Staff are friendly and glad to make recommendations and they have a nice little selection of glassware.“

“Big tap selection. Place was packed but the bar folks barely spoke to us other than "what you want". Kind of pricey but given the area and what it takes to get here you can’t complain.“

“Very cool place with a friendly feel from the start. Wonderful atmosphere, big decks to sit on and enjoy food and beverages, picturesque trees and island feel, the interior is stocked with beer, wine, and gourmet foods. The food seemed to be pricier than the beer! Then again, coming from Pennsylvania, beer always seems cheap to me when I’m out of state. The staff was beyond knowledgeable and friendly. One of the staff members got to talking with me and acted as my NC tour guide for the better part of a half hour, showing me various NC beers and others that aren’t distributed to PA for me to try. 15% discount on six packs. I walked out of there with 12 different beers for under $30. You can view the selection in two ways: it’s a little smaller than most bottle shops on the mainland, but on the other hand, it’s amazing for being on an island. The only downside was that they didn’t have many Natty Greene’s or Foothills brews. Other than that, they had most other NC breweries (Highland, Duck Rabbit, Mother Earth, etc.). Anytime I’m near here, I’ll be stopping back.“

“Originally reviewed: 6/5/11. Spent a week in Waves and came over here to Ocracoke for a day, and this place was a "must-stop." Came for lunch. We went a bit early so it wasn’t that busy, but it packed out while we were seated. Decent atmosphere. We sat in this side deck area that was cooled by fans only, no AC. That was a little disappointing, but not a deal-breaker. Service was prompt. Everything was done right, drinks were filled, and everyone was happy. I ordered the shrimp basket, and my wife had the teriyaki tuna sandie. Both plates were decent, but not earth-shattering. The beer list here is insane. Over 200 beers, predominantly bottles. Around 25 taps, with some decent "locals" available. But really, this place would have most anything one would crave as far as beer. Highly recommend.“

“Pretty nice place on the island. The food is normal coastal pub fare - the teriyaki tuna sandwich was really good - and the ambiance is standard tourist resturant style. The beer list is the best part, though. Beers from all around with one or two NC beers on tap and many bottles all laid out in style catagories on the menu. If you want a beer and you’re in the area this is the place to go“

“What a great place. Knowledgable wait staff, GREAT tap list and bottle selection. I was like a kid in a candy store! Had about 6 or 7 fishing buddies with me and I got most of the Bud and Lite drinkers to appreciate an Arrogant Bastard on tap!!! I Shot, I Scored! I will be back!“

“Nice place off the beaten path so to speak. The only way to get to the island is by ferry but it’s free and runs pretty much every hour. They have a decent selection of Belgians including Avery, Dekoninck, and Three Philosophers. From what I remember they also carry Bell’s, Flying Dog, Young’s, Founders, and Czechvar. The rooftop deck is awesome on nice days.“

“Howard’s is located on the small Outer Banks Island of Ocracoke. It’s accessible only by ferry, which runs at least hourly and is free out of Hatteras. It’s a pretty isolated island, which is played up in tourism ads. It’s still fairly undeveloped, which can bring a welcome change from the non-stop beach houses on the rest of the Outer Banks. In the bar itself, there is a nice mix of micros and macros on tap which are rotated every couple weeks, as well as an extensive menu of 200+ bottles. Lots of seating at the bar, with views of TVs on either end. There is also a rooftop sundeck with a bunch of Adirondak rocking chairs. There’s also a small portable wetbar that they probably utilize in the summer. The food was pretty tasty, and the bartenders were very friendly. This is a great bar, and I’m anxious to go back on a Friday night in the summertime. They also advertise that they’re open "365.25 days a year", so don’t worry about it being closed in the off-season.“
