“Small brewery space with makeshift taproom located in some light industrial space. Nothing fancy here. Lively crowd. Great service, 8 taps. Taster pours available. Fun“

“In Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Has enough room for 30 people inside the place. Has patio. 5 beers on tap and to go beers. Has shirts for souvenirs. 1 bartender and ver knowledgeable. Plenty of parking here. Dim lighting with one big window. I like the place. Cheers!“

“When looking at the building from the front there is parking to the right of this place. The Chagrin River in right behind this place. The interior of this building is old, creaking hardwood floors, different flooring here and there, although clean. Service was friendly and they took me to their beer cave, but I felt like these guys were completely out of touch with the newer good stuff is. This place has limited selection there is no way they had 600 different labels when I was there. They had one bottle I was interested in and looked at the bottle which said best by date in 2013, old stock. Some singles, but not all of their stock was avaiIable in singles. They had a keg of beer just sitting in the middle of the room and was offered a pint. Tried to find something interesting and left empty handed.“

“The food is the main draw at this recently opened location for FlipSide. If you are not familiar with their menu it is burgers topped with ham, BBQ, and all other sorts of things. Couple that with a reasonably nice beer list and you have a good restaurant just down the street from Chuck’s Fine Wines.

A typical tap list includes about seven to nine Ohio beers with seasonal Great Lakes as a reliable fallback. The others are often West Coast IPAs or other known brands such as Revolution. Pints run between $6.00 and $8.00 on average.

Parking and foot traffic may be the biggest problems. With limited street parking you may be best served going across the street by the Falls. During the weekday the wait time is not bad but at peak times (typically Friday nights and Saturdays) it can feel crowded. All of that said if you have a few hours to kill you can easily combine this with a trip to Chuck’s, Red Wine and Brew, and Lizardville (depending from which direction you are coming).“

“I recently discovered Chuck’s when I moved a bit more north in Ohio and did a search on ratebeer. A bit out of the way but worth a stop. They have a lot of European pilsners, lagers and stouts that you just don’t see anywhere else around here. great stuff. Then there’s the Vault. All the craft limited stuff is in there. I’ve found some amazing things in that room. They also have tastings from time to time. The people are super nice and the prices are pretty good. Stop out if you have a minute.“

“Except for a couple of beers the selection was pretty standard, not too much more than Kroger’s. But if you really like beer just drive to Lizardville or Red, Wine & Brew.“

“If I am in the Cleveland area I stop on over to Chuck’s. The staff is one of the best. A relaxing place to browse in. The value isn’t great but it is fair considering some of the stuff they do get on occasion. Chuck’s wont always have what you desire but they tend to have at least something so that your journey here wasn’t a waste.“

“Nice store with a good selection, the staff is helpful and friendly, prices are a bit higher than some competitors but they are one of few decent stores in the general area.“

“This was a place we came to when we were visiting my parents. It is awesome. They have a very large selection plus many other things. If you talk to the owner and show him you are not a creep, he’ll let you into the "secret back room" and you can check out some better selections. They have glassware, wine, cheese and other random stuff there too. I really recommend this place, plus the Chagrin Falls area is a really nice place to visit.“

“(Visited 03/2009): Stopped at Chuck’s after the first annual Winking Lizard Real Ale Fest and happy I did. The store is located in downtown Chagrin Falls, and there is a fair amount of street parking in the surrounding blocks. The interior has sections devoted to wine, cheese and of course beer. Many of the usual beers found in higher-end stores are either in one of the coolers or on the shelves. Regional brewers like Thirsty Dog, GLBC, Bell’s, Dark Horse, Hoppin’ Frog and others are represented. In addition there is a solid selection of imports, especially from Belgium. On top of THAT, the proprietor offered to take up "behind the cooler" after asking us if we were "beer hunters". Needless to say there are some real goodies tucked away back there. Obviously from the above, the service at this store is top notch. Overall this store is a must stop for anyone in the region.“

“I’ve been going to Chucks for 40 years. When I was a little kid I’d get a pop and a pretzel stick and they’d give me their extra beer signs to hang on my bedroom walls. The clientel would buy their cases of Gennesee and Black Label in long neck returnable bottles. Now, like every other store in Chagrin Falls, they’ve gone boutique selling imported cheese, fine wines and micro’s. They do a good job of it. It is fun to go through their cooler in the back looking for hidden beer treasures. They also sponsor tastings and have a pretty knowledgeable staff. See Mike for beer advice.“

“Best beer store I’ve ever been in. Mike "The Swami" of suds will direct you wherever your tastes inquire. Lots of individual beers and 22ozs spread the varieties. Rare, expansive styles and regions provide a great variety of options. I’m a local and would argue it’s one of the best I’ve seen living across the country.“

“A fine detour in Cleveland’s suburbs. This is one gourmet wine/cheese/beer stop that seems to be ran with passion from as friendly people as one can hope for. They’d show us the impressive remnants of their French courses, would bring the beer up to our car to send us out with good wishes and would offer good advice and places to stop on our way. Just genuine, good people. As far as service, it does not get much better. The place is also well laid out, in a nice little town so that you feel very comfortable. Some other raters complain about the premium prices, this is not something I’ve felt, but I’m not so familiar with Ohio’s usual costs. It certainly was cheaper than in Pennsylvania. As far as the selection goes, there were a couple of hundred different beers to choose from. Not very practical is the fact that they preferred not to break six-packs. Be sure to ask for the walk-in cooler because that’s where we bought 2/3 of our stuff from. This contained a few newer limited offerings. Not a world-class selection, but the usual suspects are covered and I was happy to find stuff like Buckeye and The Brew Kettle. If service is of importance to you, that’s a top spot. If selection is all that counts, there may be better options, but not many in Greater Cleveland area. For instance, I found Chuck’s superior to Rozi’s in Lakewood.“

“I have visited Chucks several times over the past couple years. They have a nice selection. They charge more than the average store in the area which is annoying. More annoying to me is their good stuff is in the back cooler. So I have to freeze my ass off to shop their better items. No thanks. I won’t be visiting Chucks any more. They still have a nice selection and premium prices if you like.“

“A real gem within the shops and homes of Chagrin Falls. Great selection of single beers as well as wine, glassware, cheeses and specialty items. Service is fantastic and employees are always willing to help with your selection. Ask to see the additional selection of beers in the back of their walk-in cooler.“

“A nice surprise I was shown on a visit to family in the area. Nice ambiance for a beer store. Staff were beyond friendly. They had mistakenly put the wrong price beneath a 6 pack and gave me the price which was two dollars cheaper. Nice selection of imports and micros from the area. A good place to pick up some beer, I can’t ask for much more.“

“Decided to head out that way and check it out. Lots of imports, guezes, lambics, that sort of thing and a few things that you really can’t find many other places (Brewdog, for instance). Tiny, cramped little place that teaches you how to dance, thats for sure! Excellent selection of hard-to-find 22oz, but regrettably not willing to break up six packs and the singles rack was overwhelmingly dusty macros. Though if you are looking for something and the Other Store doesn’t have it, consider calling these guys. Between the two, I think you could find anything you’d want that is distributed in OH.“

“Great beer store with excellent staff. I have found a few beers here that I couldn’t find down in Dayton. They are a decent source of scarce/rare beers that they seem to get in from time to time. I’ll definitely be back in here next time I’m in town.“

“Nice place with lots of beer... and wine! Nice and ever changing selection of locals and out of state micros and imports. If you don’t see it ask, they may have it, just not out on the floor! If they don’t have it, ask, they will probably get it for you! Staff is knowledgeable and friendly, despite what Corey says! My only complaint is like everyone else’s. The beer is spread out all over the store in various spots, but definitely worth while to stop in to see what they’ve got.“

“Tucked away in Chagrin Falls, a town itself seemingly tucked away, and miles from any major city. I missed it initially and then probably broke every Chagrin Falls traffic law while doubling back. Nice service and very personable, if initially a little parent-ish. The beer is spread out across about three different sections of the store, and each section is broken up into a specific style. There is a decent, high-end selection of singles, mainly focusing on foreign stuff: Belgians (some lambics and saisons), some Germans (nice amount of smoked, with several varieties from schlerekna), a nice amount of American micros, and a little swill. I remember a lot of De Dolle, Traquair, Rochefort, and Hanssens. There is an extensive selection of six packs that cover a lot of basic micros, most of which are in the coolers (the door to which I completely missed in haste as it’s off to the side), and a lot of macros. There is a little place to get food over in the corner. Pretty decent prices comp“

“This was a lucky find. The owner brought out a few beers to taste and was interesting to talk to. It took me forever in the store because beer is spread all over the place. He also had some more beers somewhere else that he brought out. Great store.“

“This has become my main source of new purchases now that I am settled in. Being only a few miles away and close to the grocery store it is easy to fabricate an excuse to visit. The selection here covers almost everything that you can get in the state. Finding it can be tricky as the bottles are spread all over the store (my only real complaint). Most of it though is in two areas. The first are the shelves and coolers which contain the regular stable of beers (Southern Tier six packs, lambics, Belgians, etc). The rest are hidden in the walk in cooler. Here you will find stuff like Olfabrikken Abbey Ale, Mikkeler Black Hole and Big Worse, the whole Alesmith lineup and plenty more. If you time it right there are monthly tastings as well. For $5 you get to try a nice selection and then walk out with the bottles in hand. Also be sure to check out the cheese selection.“

“First time at Chucks- heard it was a top place to shop. Overall it was a good experience. Confusing layout reminded me of somebody’s basement- everything was mixed up together in different parts spread throughout the store. 6pk/4pk selection was decent. They had limited selection of 12oz singles- the ones they had on the wall looked average, and dusty. There were some nice beers I hadn’t seen before and interesting imports. They had a lot of regional craft bombers.

The staff was nice and helped me around the store, suggested a few beers, and took me to the back cooler. If they’d organize their stock better and also use 2-3 of the cooler doors for 12oz singles that would definitely help.“

“Since I’ve started going to Chuck’s I have yet to be disappointed. Every time I can’t see something that I’m looking for all I have to do is ask and there it is. If this continues, I’ll never think of going anywhere else.“

“I have been going to Chuck’s for a couple of years and am continually pleased with what I see. Their selection of beer is far above average, but service is where they really shine. They also always seem to have something I am looking for, such as a few Alesmith brews and a B.O.R.I.S. The Crusher I just picked up. Be sure to ask because they have more than it appears. If you’re east of Cleveland for any reason I suggest stopping here. The gourmet food is also a plus.“

“Great spot in a unique town. Staff is very helpful, and was eager to to talk shop with me. They told me they could also fill orders pretty quickly. There were so many beers (they told me more than 400), I was easily entertained, and it was hard to choose. Huge selection of my favorites (American craft), plus tons of Belgians and Europeans. Go there now!“

“This place was a little out of the way, but worth the visit. I was clearly not the first beer geek to have come through that day, I guess they had gotten picked clean by all the traffic to Great Lakes for the BA Blackout release. But they were very friendly and willing to answer questions. Even gave me a card incase I was coming back through and might be looking for something specific. As far as selection, Stone 04 for half the price of what it is in Columbus right now. A very tempting 3L of Arrogant bastard from 2001. Quite a few imports I had never seen before in Ohio. The cooler had some goodies in it, but after he mentioned having a cellar somewhere else in the store I was really hoping to get down there instead.“

“This palce in in Chagrin Falls, a quaint village on the eastern outskirts of Cleveland, just a few miles from where I grew up. My two brothers live close by, and I had the occassion to stop in on a recent visit. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The selection was as good as I’ve seen, although the owner was lamenting the fact that their stock and selection was way down because of the time of the year. Could have fooled me. My brother is familiar with the place, and asked about going in the cooler which is not visible to patrons. They had a bunch of stuff back there that was not out front. Some Alesmith, Jolly Pumpkin, etc. Prices were reasonable for most of the widely available micros, but maybe a little high on some of the Belgians and other "high end" micros. On the down side, they don’t split six packs, and had only a very limited selection of 12 oz. singles. My observation was if it’s distributed in Ohio, these guys have probably got it, unless the distributor is out of it. Certainly worth a visit if you’re in the Cleveland area.“

“Stopped in here the other day. Chagrin Falls is a very nice little town, and worth a visit on its own. Finding good beer there is a bonus. The store had a very good selection of beers with a nice mix of domestic craftbrews to imports. The owner and another worker were there and were helpful, but they wouldn’t let me split any of the six packs on the floor or in the cooler. They do have a wall with singles that you can mix and match. There were some hidden treasures in the singles, but most of it was average stuff at best. I peeked at some of their food selections, looked nice, but I wasn’t there for food so I didn’t get anything. Overall: A bit out of the way, but worth a visit. Good selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and some great views of the Chagrin Falls.“

“I pleasantly found it to be on the street that is on the 271 express (chagrin), it was in a nice small town, and it was near the off-the-wall Buckeye’s. More than 400 beers, at fair prices, with a very knowledgeable and involved owner and backup. Lots of hard-to-finds. Bonus points for throwing in a glass and other freebies, telling me about future brewery beer tastings, and breaking up some 4-and 6-packs which was a pure pleasure for my ability to import despite being a bit of hardship to them. The Bell’s(and other Michigan brews) distributor in Ohio strongly urged me to go there "These guys take a bit of everything" Updated years later to reflect current reality v. so many better stores now.“

“Right across from the falls, and a definite stop to go if you are in or near Solon. The staff there is almost always on the ball, unless to local beer nuts are both not there, in which case you are left with the wine nuts. They also know what they are about to get in within the coming weeks, so you can do your homework if on a budget (for us poor college folk.) The prices are generally reasonable, unless you want a single of something limited, then you might be paying $3-4 for a ImortAle. And as for food, their cheese is exelent, good varienty off different stuff you will never find at Wal Mart.“
