“Got here just before opening, they were busy doing all sorts of fix-em-up projects. Inside the place is a labyrinth of rooms and bars, no real signage to guide you. After feeling my way through this place, I did find the one bar that was open. IPA centric taplist, and mostly NEIPAs to boot. Good service. Food available. Besides the inside, there is a large desk with with bar an taps, and a large lawn area with picnic tables. No dogs allowed. Dedicated parking“

“Excellent place located on a 300+ year old lot. The bars are located throughout the first floor of the building in a number of rooms, as well as on the deck. I think they had a total of 10 beers on tap in the two bars, most of them being IPAs. The staff were very friendly. There is a big field kids can run around in. Dogs are no longer allowed. Very pleasant place to visit on a hot summer day. I did not have the food, but it looked reasonably good. Definitely want to go again. 4 packs are available for sale to go.“

“Really nice location, cool old house/buildings with lots of outside seating. The best hazy IPAs I've had in PA so far. All cans, no taps when I went. Reasonably priced...5-6 dollars a 16oz can. Plastic cups, which suck. Mostly IPAs with a couple cool other options. Great, but wish they served in proper glassware.“

“This place was a real nice find, and I have some reviewers here on RB to thank for it. It does not have a lot of ratings, possibly because of the out-of-the-usual-way location in Pottstown, but it is well worth checking out. They were doing a brisk business on the day that we came by. The fresh out of the oven pretzel was one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life, and there is an attractive dining area and some outdoor seating. And I have not said a word yet about the beer, which is of course the main draw. HR specializes in big, rich IPAs, and theirs can stand up with the best. Now I wish I could find their beers somewhere other than their brewery, but it seems like Hidden River is doing just fine without distributing their products far and wide.“

“Don't come here! This is my spot...go somewhere else. HRB is a gem. The ever rotating small batch beers selection cannot be beat. Every week there will be new beers to enjoy. They have really nailed the NE style IPAs and continue to brew many other styles of beer. The new kitchen offers an expanded menu with tasty locally sourced farm to table food. As others have mentioned...HRB is located in the 300 year old Historic Brinton Lodge ...if you see Eileen ask her about its history. My week is not complete without a visit to HRB to see my friends Douglass, Jillian, Jenna, Blake, Ross, Eillen, Dori, and the rest. HRB is pet friendly on the deck and outside area.“

“This place is the real deal 18th century building or older and some of the rooms look like they haven’t been made up since it was built. I mean that in a good way. Great vibe in the place. Nice retro feel. Beers are top notch. Only knock is no flights, which is a bummer for tickers, but they offered up samples of whatever we wanted, so that was cool.“

“Interesting location - out of the way and nondeScript from the outside, but very inside, if not a bit small. No samplers or flights but do sell 10oz pours - this would be my only complaint, with as many beers on tap, do some 5oz pours! All beers above average to fantastic - including an IPA that was top notch. Food menu was smaller but I did get the smoked Bologna sandwich which was very good. Note: only fill 32oz growlers ... Update: beers are just as good if not better. They will do small pours if you ask. I wish this place was closer and increasing my score for this place.“

Beer Quality// very good
Beer Philosophy// eight to ten rotating taps; variety of styles; some emphasis on saisons and pale ales
Serving Sizes// 10 oz / 16 oz; will let you try something before ordering, but not a ticker’s paradise given the lack of flights/taster servings
Growler Situation// will fill 32oz growlers; they have their own glass (screwtop 32oz)
Food Situation// small menu; local ingredient focused; good quality
Ambiance// spacious;small, rustic tasting room; great outdoor space
Overall// exciting new arrival on the SEPA beer scene with an experimental flair“

“Lovely pastoral setting with patio area. Small but quaint indoor area, with 8 seater bar and roughly 4-6 tables seating 16-24. 10-12 beers on tap, raging from average to stellar. The Dark Shadow stout was great, the ginger APA was solid. The food menu was small, but my meat plate was delicious, and Dory is awesome. I can’t believe what the chefs do here with such little space. Doug and Kevin were great, the service was great, and the overall experience was outstanding. The sky is the limit for Hidden River. Additional rating info, 13-Aug-2015. Hidden River now has 10-12 taps, an IPA that rivals Hill Farm, and all the food is outstanding. This has now become a go-to place for Doc Lock, and one of the best beer locations of all time.“

“This place is not a brewery....it’s a winery. They make wine...not beer. However, the wine they do make is extremely delicious!“
