“Very cool location inside the old train station, incorporating a ton of features from it's passenger rail days. Tons of space with a pretty good food menu. Dripping with ambience.Good service, decent brews. Lots of memorabilia from Erie's Old breweries. Too cool.“

“Weird place, located in an old school that hasn't operated since the 90s. They had 23 meads when I went in, with 3 x 0.25 oz for $1, or larger pours for more -- quite a deal if you want to tick. The mead quality was mediocre, with nothing seeming excellent, but everything seeming fine. Odd spot. They're moving to a new location soon, so it might be worth stopping in if you're passing by.“

“Near the middle of the town centre, located in a brick building amidst many other units. They have over a dozen beers, with flights of 6 for $20 (after tax). Beer quality is OK. Many of the hoppy beers were overly sweet / under-attenuated, so I wasn't overly happy with them, which was surprising given the high ratings. Might be worth a stop, but my visit wasn't too impressive.“

“We really liked their food, good sandwiches mainly. The beer list was very short. Though they had a few good local sections and a couple good macros. Should have read the prior review as it indeed got very loud where we sat.“

“A sprawling beer hall style space, fairly empty late on a Friday night. Much like a Midwestern supper club or even event center, with multiple rooms for different uses. 30 taps split equally between guest beers and house stuff, which generally skirts the line of acceptable quality. Service was excellent, fast and thoughtful. Food was good I thought although I’d been hungry for a long while. This worked out well as a second option. I wouldn’t really speak highly of this place as a beer destination, but it’s a comfortable, homey spot.“

“Stopped in around 10 Friday night hoping for some food and a beer, since the website advised kitchen was open until midnight. It was quite a scene. A loud, messy, out of control room. One staff member as far as was apparent, doing her best to serve a room full of probably 50 people, conservatively. Washing dirty pints to immediately fill them, and methodically trying to stave off an ever-growing crowd. After fifteen minutes I was too hungry to stick it out further. Maybe there was some kind of anomalous staff issue tonight, otherwise this was some pretty disastrous scheduling/management decision making. Didn’t get to try a beer or speak to the, again, completely solo staff member before having to leave.“

Wegmans - Erie (Grocery Store)

“It was the usual nice Wegmans location. It was a few years back and PA had a weird limit of beers one person can buy at a time. I had to make 3 separate trips thru the register and to my car because of a out dated beer limit law. What a pain PA is.“

“This is a small cozy pub in downtown Erie. Off street parking and an entrance that takes you around the brewing equipment. Very small but tasty pub food menu. They had eight of their own beers on tap and the ones I had were solid. Worth the detour if you are traveling past around dinner.“

“Small tasting room with a kitchen with some board games and card games .... had a nice mix of families and college aged kids hanging out at some booths, long family style tables and high tops ... food was appetizer and small sandwiches .... they had several beers on tap and two bartenders with bottles and growler fills .... food was tasty and the pints were a good price ... selection featured a wide variety of their styles .... I’d definitely come back if in the area for a beer or appetizer before a nice dinner elsewhere“

“What an awesome happening place. A bit rustic, cabin like, on the way in saw the room with brewing equipment, love to see a working brewery. Great lineup of beers served here, and the place was buzzing on Saturday afternoon. Good service, good food, good beer. Beer prices reasonable, along with food prices, especially considering the quality of the offerings.“

“I like this Wegman’s especially much because they make it easy to get beer in Erie, which can be a challenge with the dated PA laws. Especially separate bottles, pick 6’s and other niceties vs. buy cases at PA distributors. The checkout girls can usually explain the bizarre PA limits too.“

“Very solid brewery. Went on a Friday night and the couple of bartenders were friendly, service was prompt, and they were quick to also get my to go bottles when I was ready to leave. Prices are fair, although the bottles and 6 pack of cans were a bit pricey. Well within a fair price range though and the beers were all great. I’m a big fan of the Dulachan and the Ulster breakfast stout. They have foods to choose from, but I haven’t eaten there so I refrained from rating that. Overall, nice place and I’ll be going back.“

“Not a bad place to grab a couple beers and bite to eat. Was there in the middle of the day on a Saturday so it was pretty dead. Service was good and on point since we didn’t have to fight with other tables and our server kept coming over to check on things frequently. Pretty large craft draft selection, so that was really cool. Also had tons of bottles on the menu. Food wasn’t that great. It was ok, but nothing special and I wouldn’t recommend it. Price and value was decent for what you get. I’d go back, but it’s nothing I’d seek out or drive out of my way for.“

“Not a bad place, but the selection leaves a lot to be desired. The beers on tap are meh and the coolers have some ok stuff, but most of the beers can be bought at Wegmans. Price is decent. I did enjoy the KBS release they did a while back since it was the first time I got to try it. Staff wasn’t bad, but not friendly either. The bartender just looks at you and nods instead of asking what you’d like or how they can assit you.“

“Wow. 50% off drafts on a Friday night? Definitely something I have never seen before. Selection was varied, focusing mostly on the immediate area. You can’t beat the prices. Staff was nice. Bar was divided in half, with one area being darkly lit and the other a bit brighter.“

“Nice little find while on a trip in Erie. In an office building that has a nice sized space for customers. They appeared to have a nice menu; however, I did not try any of the food. The beers were actually pretty good. None were mediocre and a few were actually really great. Atmosphere was nice and the staff was as well. I’d definietely go back if I was in the area and would love it if they distributed in Georgia.“

“The location was really great. Spacious with tons of room and cool ambiance. All of that, however, was ruined by the mediocre beer and tasteless food. The place is so spread out that it takes forever to get service. Beer was okay at best, but I would probably never go back.“

“Interesting place in downtown erie that seems to be a preferred hangout for the younger weekend crowd. Place has two bar areas separated by bathrooms with one side being more dimly lit with louder music and the other being a brighter, quieter area. Large tap selection with the majority of options being from breweries in the great lakes area. The best part was the happy hour specials that ran even on the weekend. Only place I’ve been where 10-midnight on Friday and Saturday night were 50% all drafts!!“

“Tucked away in the back of an office building this place was a pleasant surprise. You walk in past the fenced-in brewing area before entering the small taproom. Taproom while small, was well-sized for the number of patrons and was nicely styled with a stack of boardgames to keep people entertained while they drink. They offer a small eats menu, but we didn’t try any. House beers were really good and offered up some creative recipes. With the limited number of taps, it was nice to see they didn’t squander the limited number of taps with an unoriginal pale lager or wheat beer just to appease the non-craft beer drinkers. Great staff and great beers; a place I’d gladly go back to.“

“Building itself is a really cool use of a large, old train station building with much of the old building and signage left intact. Size f the building provides ton of seating, but it also makes the place seem somewhat oversized and the waiting staff spends a lot of time running around to tables spread everywhere. Decent number of house beers, but none were that great. A few decent attempts at more experimental styles, but each beer had at least 1 flaw. Food portions were large and well-priced, but weren’t that flavorful. Okay place, but not one that I would return to.“

“Very small place. A bar up front with I think about a dozen taps for growlers and pints at a couple of tables. A long cooler in the back has a decent variety of 6-packs and bombers. Service wasn’t great. Seemed like they were put off that I was only there to buy bottles and not drink.“

“A brewpub located in an old train station in Erie. It is very nice inside - the bar is located in the original main lobby with a nice skylight and beautiful architecture. There are other sections with seating as welll. The beers themselves were mostly mediocre (I tried the IPA, brown ale, and weizenbock). There was a special where you got a good deal on pint glasses. The food was standard pub fare - I got a burger salad which was huge, but decent. Overall, an interesting place to visit but the beers are subpar.“

“This is an Old train station close many years ago. The city of Erie, PA revitalized the old building and turned it into a brewery. Almost everything was restored to original condition. I wish more towns in America would keep old buildings alive with restoration. Really great décor! I eat a smothered chicken sandwich and it was normal pub fare. Our bartender was nice enough and did chat with us a bit. The beers are real average and have a tie with Lavery Brewing Company. They also had a decent bottle list focusing on Pennsylvania beers. If you are ever in the area, stop in and take the tour. “

“At this time Laverys is Erie’s newest brewery and pub. This is a don’t miss it place to visit when in Erie. Host to Erie’s best beer, including the GABF Gold medal Liopard Ale, Laverys is constantly introducing new beer styles and trends. Here you’ll find oak-aged beers along side lighter sessionable wheat beers and ales. Jason & Jason recently brewed a 310 gallon batch of pale ale base and sold the unfermented wort to the public in 5 gallon batches. I now have 3 fermenters of modified wort bubbling happily away. The food selection is limited at this time but what they have is excellent.“

“Pretty much a hangout for young, attractive college people. Most were drinking Yuengling, Bud Light and Guiness. Tap list was nice and some pretty good bottles. I loved the design and layout of the interior but we were there on a Saturday night so it was pretty busy. Prices were decent and the staff loved mixing beers on tap...like they really insisted multiple times I mix beers. so weird.“

“Visited: 2-4-12 We had stopped here on our last stop of Tour de NWPA. A: The place is a refurbished train station, the bar area is small but they have plenty of tables throughout the station. Q: The beer quality was decent, of our group, no one complained about the in house beers. I had the peanut butter porter and the belgian and they were both decent. S: Out waitress was very attentive and made some good recommednations, friendly. S: They offered 9 in house beers that were a wide array of beer, plus another 30 bottles from many PA brewers. F: Decent, everyone in our group was satisified with their selections. V: For 6 of us drinkning and eating, the tab was under $25 per person, and that included 2/3 drinks per person. Overall, Union Station is a nice stop while in Erie, decent beer, decent food, decent place.“

“Visited: 8-1-11 I went to this place because I was driving by it and had never stopped in. When you walk in, the left side is for the beer coolers and the right side is tables and a sandwich/pizza shop. They have 8 taps with about half dedicated to PA beers. The bomber selection is about 40 different varieties with about half dedicated to PA beers and the sixer selection is only two coolers full out of about 9 coolers sadly. The guys working there seemed alright and could talk the talk when asked. This place is okay but not the best in erie or someplace you would go out of the way for. “

“Visited; 7-29-11 This place is small and a little hard to find but only a stones throw from I 90. It has a nice cozy feel to it with the bar up front and the bottles in the back. They have 12 taps and one cask tap to choose from or you browse the bottle selection in back. They have 4 coolers for craft bombers, sixers, and 12 packs and about 8 feet of shelves full of bombers to choose from. Its nice to come here because they have some bombers that don’t distribute in NY but beyond that, there is nothing exciting about their collection. The staff is okay with beer knowledge and friendlyness. One thing that concerned me was that 2 of their 12 taps were christmas ales, Southern Tier Krampus and Delirium Noel...which are good beers (in december, not july). If I am in the area for work, I may stop in just to quickly browse but that would be about it.“

Discount Beer (Beer Store)
7200 PEACH ST
“Visited: 7-29-11 When you enter into Discount Beer, you can obviously see that they cater to all beer drinkers. The store is pretty much divided down the middle between macros and micros. When you go inside, you definitely stay to the left for your craft beers, but it instantly hits you...I see cases of beer, but where are the bombers, six packs, 12 packs??? This place sells beers by the case only, which isn’t horrible but sometimes you want a bomber and not 12 of them (but that is on PA and their stupid beer laws, not on the business). The quality of their selection was pretty decent as you could not only get some decent PA brewers but other craft brewers as well. I think I would like to see more offerings from PA brewers. You may find Ottos, Stoudts, or Voodoo but only a couple of flavors from each and not a full line. The service was decent and seemed eager to help and try to answer questions but you aren’t going to find beer snobs working here. If Im looking to load up on something and in the area, I might stop here again. “

Wegmans - Erie (Grocery Store)
6143 PEACH ST
“When I visited: Late summer 2012. What I bought: Summit EPA, Horizon Red Ale, Pilsener, and Summer Ale, Tröegs Dream Weaver Wheat, Lancaster Milk Stout, Sly Fox Pikeland Pilsner, Anderson Valley Hop Ottin’ IPA, Red Hook ESB, and others. What I liked: Pretty sizable selection for a grocery store, lots of refrigerated sixers, cans, and bombers, good mix between US, Belgian, German, and UK offerings, well-organized shelves, specials section, cute and friendly cashier explained PA’s weird retail rules to me, managed to grab several beers that I had read about but never tried before. What I disliked: Some of the bottles were quite dusty and old with a few past their BB date, had to buy 6 packs of beers that I would’ve otherwise bought singles of, but that’s due to the laws and not the store’s fault. Would I go back? Yes. This is a convenient stop on the way back from Ohio, Pennsylvania, etc. Overall Rating: 78“

“Wholesaler of beer in Erie, PA. I’ll be honest this place is THE reason that Erie now has a solid selection of craft beer. Every other wholesaler tends to shy away (IMO) from bringing in a bunch of craft beer (even if they can get it). Not Penn. Easy to work with and are willing to get you rare beers if they have access.“
