“Good beer selection, though they only have a fraction available as singles. Attentive beer manager. Warehouse style ambiance, similar to a Total Wine. Pretty good.“

“Free dedicated easy parking. Nice store like most Whole Foods. No service to speak of, but I did not inquire. Descent selection of locals. Most beer are in cooler to help ensure freshness. Singles are available on an end cap cooler. May be worth a look if vacationing in the area.“

“Green modern vibe to the taproom. Beers are good, especially the dark beers. Flights available, including a more expensive barrel aged stouts flight. No bottles to go on my visit, just cans. Did get a few vintage stouts on draft though. Very good.“

“Pretty sick spot if you find yourself in Mt. Pleasant. Funny thing about Mt. Pleasant: It’s not a Mount, it’s actually super flat and swampy. Also, when I was there it was not pleasant, it was raining. So if my experience is any indication, they should rename it Swamp Unpleasant. But do you know what is pleasant? The brewskis at Westbrook. Their taste is pleasant and seeing your tick count go up is pleasant, if you’re a ticker. If you’re not a ticker, like, dude, what? Being a ticker was right there and you just picked not being a ticker. Make better life choices, my guy. Well anyway, this is a good place. Airy indoor spot and an outdoor spot for good weather. Great selection. Awesome -bal stouts that will murder you. Solid IPAs and fruity fruitcakes. Seltzer is an abomination against humanity but they have it. Crowlers and 4-packs to go.“

“I've been wanting to come here for years, and finally made it. Sadly, the vintage bottles are gone. Ipa's aren't very good, but I did enjoy the sours and seltzers. Solid list of their stouts on as well. I'd come back.“

“Westbrook is out off a service road in an industrial park area. They seem to have two fairly large aluminum shell type buildings next to each other, with some parking in between and next to both, with overflow parking on a gravel lot adjacent to their lots. We went shortly after opening on a rainy Tuesday and were surprised by the crowd. There isn’t a lot of seating for a fairly big room. The oval-shaped large bar in the middle takes up a lot of space. Service here is notoriously slow and unfriendly. Prices are fair overall, except for the absurd prices on the vintage bottle menu, with Mexican Cake vintages and variants ranging from $75-$1,000. There are some cans and bottles available to go, as well. They had about 10 house taps and 2 guests, both Evil Twin beers - which I guess technically aren’t really guest taps. It’s a snazzy place with good beer and definitely worth a visit if you’re anywhere in the Charleston area, but they could also tweak a few things to make it better.“

ambiance: About a mile and five minutes’ drive from the more famous Westbrook, in an adjacent industrial/office park. Inside is smallish overall, but the bar area is long enough to accommodate plenty, and they have a few tables set up. Pretty typical craft brewery feel. service: Excellent. THIS is what I look for in a brewery. A welcoming atmosphere, UNPRETENTIOUS, excited about the beer, happy to talk about it and pour samples if it’s a quiet time of day. selection: About a dozen of their own on tap. All of which were good to great. food: N/A, but from a conversation overheard, sounds like they do food trucks on the weekends. value: Excellent. Ended up trying almost everything, and took home a couple souvenir glasses as well, and it was cheaper than expected. overall: Hidden gem that probably won’t stay hidden for long. Great beer, great service, nice place. Highly recommended.“

appearance: Typical industrial park. Mid-sized tap room, decently-appointed. They made more of an effort than many breweries. service: It was fine. Friendly enough, but the bartenders seemed more interested in their phones than serving the customers. selection: A dozen taps, usually one guest tap. food: N/A. value: Not bad. overall: The star is the beer, and it mostly lived up to expectations. That said, this place might just be slightly overrated. I preferred the warmer, cozier, friendlier more *real* feeling Two Blokes, less than a mile away.“

“Visited with the family on a Thursday afternoon. Not necessarily a kid friendly place, though my boys did fine sitting with me at a high top. Located just off the interstate not too far from downtown Charleston or the airport. Located in a light industrial warehouse type area. The large brewery building houses a medium sized tasting room. 20 seats at the oval bar with maybe 10 or so high top tables. There is a small patio area out front though it’s not particularly well designed. The highlight here is the beer though, and the 12 Westbrook beers that were on spanned a broad range of styles and included a bunch of one-off and brand new beers. Also had 1 Evil Twin on. Beers are sold by the pint, or a 4 beer tasting flight where you pick the beers. 4 different beers were on sale to to go, and most of the drafts were available via growler or crowler. Crowd was happy and festive. Service friendly and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed my visit.

88 = ★★★★ (best in area, a must for locals and visitors)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“For a larger commercial brewery the tap room is well done. Good size and a cool vibe. Very friendly and they had several beers on tap that were tap room only. Sours they had were phenomenal, others are very good as well but the sours are superb. Well worth a stop. Only downside was the limited hours. 4-7 Tues-Friday and 12-6 Saturday. Although the hours are written in erasable marker on the door, so my guess is they are not written in stone. Really enjoyed the taproom though.“

“This was the first stop on an early birthday brewery and beer tour of Charleston area. The brewery is located a new industrial area. They are expanding the canning and bottling operations. The tasting room is nicely done with bar in the center and tables around and outside. The place was full at 1230 PM. The service was excelent and very helpful. The Dark Helmet was one of the best I have had. They could offer sodas to the designated drivers etc“

“Visited here on New Year’s Eve 2015. Intimate atmosphere, very dark and quiet. Have a small selection of locals and imports, all pretty solid and a bit off the beaten path. Menu is seafood oriented and very selective and it appears that they rotate it often. I had the seafood linguine and my wife had the shrimp and grits and both were outstanding. Highly recommended.“

“Visited here in late December ’15 while in the area for vacation. Very similar to other Whole Foods I have visited although this one did not appear to have bar with taps that some of the newer ones seem to have, but it did have a growler fill station. Have two different areas for beer. One is a cooler full of singles, lots of South Carolina brewers represented. The other area has a wall full of six packs and bombers. Served my needs well, just looking for a few South Carolina singles to take home for ticking.“

“Sort of a business park brewery, I suppose. It’s a little bit out of town if you’re in Charleston, but not too bad of a drive. Pretty big facility and a really well done building and tasting room.

Pretty modern feel to it. The bar is sort of an oval/elliptical shape and since we were there on a weekday afternoon, not super busy. They had a pretty good number of beers on, mostly their own but some Evil Twin stuff as well. I guess nice to be able to try those without having to buy expensive bottles... Flights available and pretty cheap. Plenty of beer to go as well (cans, bottles, growlers).

Despite being the rather typical business park brewery location, they’ve done a good job with this place and I thought the beers were pretty decent overall, too.“

“Definitely a must visit for the beers, though this place could use some serious work in the service department. Got here at opening on a Friday before July 4th and still didn’t get served for 20 minutes. Managed to get one of the only few bottles of Mexican Cake they were selling that day at least. Better vibe outside, where there are some chairs on a patio but the general area isn’t much to look at, being right beside a highway in an industrial area outside of town. Really not worth spending much time in when beautiful downtown Charleston is so close by. Inside is too busy for any kind of ambiance, with dozens of people clambering for service from 2-3 staff members. Perhaps it was because of the holiday weekend, but I still wouldn’t recommend staying too long - just get in and get out. They appear to be building a large expansion next door. Beers were great, however.“

“Stopped by on a Friday evening. Located just a little off of I-526 in what seems to be more of a business park area. Medium sized open room that reminded me of an upscale brewpub (although without the food part). 9 Westbrook beers on tap when I visited (including Mexican Cake and 2 barrel aged beers). Also had 7 Evil Twin beers on tap. Beer flights available - any 4 beers for $6, pretty good deal considering the selection. Beers were top notch. Definitely a place worth going out of your way for. One downside was the service was a little slow, even though they weren’t really busy when I visited. Also, they have pretty limited hours if you are an out-of-towner just passing through the area. But definitely a great visit.“

“Visited on a thursday afternoon around 4:30 and actually got a seat at the bar. The place filled up shortly there after. Clean, modern looking room. Stools were fairly uncomfortable. Nice beer selection including a fair amount of Evil Twin poop. Service was good considering how busy she was. No brewery tour as they were too busy to do one. Found out the fella helping the girl behind the bar was the tour guide. Oh well. Clean pissery. Cans and bottles to go. Nice place! Ohyeah! Ran into a beer there called Mexican Cake, twas yummy.“

“Gorgeous resort-like lodge campus tucked away in a corporate park, and they were breaking ground on an expansion project when we were there. The tasting room is a bit small and compact for what you think you’re getting into, but seating could be found on a Saturday afternoon. The staff was friendly and really chill, definitely enjoyed kicking back and chatting about beer. A good selection of Westbrook brews, plus some Evil Twin selections to change it up (the brews that Westbrook contract brews). Prices were a bit high, but the beers were tasty.“

“Bottles is a large liquor superstore. There is a growler station that had some good options on it. Given the condition of a lot of the beer here, that would probably be a good option to explore. The selection is pretty impressive, not as crazy as something like CBX, but pretty vast. Most of the beer is stored room temperature and I saw several bottles out of date or with a firm layer of dust on them. Still, the selection is big enough that it is easy to find something fresh in the coolers.“

“This is an absolute must stop for any beer lover in the area. The tasting room is spacious, clean with tasteful architecture. There is a patio outside, but the heat index on this day was definitely over 100 so I was taking advantage of the air conditioning. Bartenders are friendly and helpful. It got pretty busy, but I didn’t have to wait for beer. The selection featured a good array of Westbrook offerings and since the brewer from Evil Twin had apparently made some beer here, there were a few Evil Twin offerings as well. Definitely a solid selection was on. State law limits the amount that each person can consume and /or purchase to go, but it is a very generous number. I purchased three six packs, a growler fill and a 10 oz for on premise consumption and didn’t approach that limit. They will fill other breweries’ growlers as well. The only food available was hot pretzels. I am a huge fan of the Westbrook beer and their tasting room is a very cozy place to come get it.“

“I love whole foods in general. This is a great store, superb food, great and pretty cheap beer selection (for me, I’m Danish), friendly staff. They also have a growler station, which we don’t have in any supermarket or beer store, that I know of, in Denmark.“

“Beautiful and clean tasting room and bar. Service was very attentive and pleasant, and they know what they are talking about. Selection was what I expected considering you can find what’s available on their website. Prices were very nice, and options on sizes make you able to taste a lot considering the state limit of 48oz. Amazing beer, and definitely worth the stop.“

“A beautiful taproom with 360 degree seating around a central bar. Spacious, bright, cheery ambiance. Unfortunately the selection was a bit thin. There were 4 Westbrook beers available on draft plus a few guests from the likes of Evil Twin (obviously) and Stillwater. Prices were decent, service was attentive. Overall, the quality of Westbrook’s beer means that a visit’s almost compulsory if you’re visiting Charleston. I wish there was a bit more for visitors to enjoy, but I don’t regret the making the pilgrimage.“

“By far the best beer selection of the Sesame’s in Charleston. Solid draft list that turns over pretty quickly. For me the beer is secondary to the food (e.g. better options in the area if I’ll I’m doing is drinking), although I can always find 2-3 things on the draft board I haven’t tried. Good for bringing the family, or just chilling at the bar. Great option to hit up if you’re looking for food and want to have a solid beer too.“

“Generally a pretty solid tap list, although some of the more interesting beers can sit around for a long time. Serve their beer too cold IMO, and depending on the bartender, in a frozen/chilled mug. One of the few options for craft on this side of town, and if you want a craft beer and have kids in tow is a solid option.“

“A bit of a challenge to find, but well worth it. We actually had to give the taxi driver directions! Surprisingly large modern warehouse-type place. Indeed this is an unusual craft brewery as it was purposely built as such. They have a rather nice modern tap room at the front which offers a comprehensive selection of Westbrook and some Evil Twin. As well as some bottles & cans for drink-in or take-away. Staff were friendly and helpful. We also went on a good brewery tour by a very knowledgeable brewer indeed. I think these guys make some of the best beer out there, so unsurprisingly I loved the place.“

“Large store (for CHS), with solid selection ranging from macro’s to special releases. Wine and beer, with what I’d guess is a 55/45 beer to wine emphasis. Half a dozen taps that turn over with good regularity. Do a good job of making it easy to find special/new releases. Staff is generally knowledgeable about most of what is carried. Professionally run (and locally owned I believe, big plus), a little bit of something for everyone.“

“Beautiful, large tasting room. The fact that they typically have evil twin and sometime stillwater as well as their on own tap makes the selection very good. Quality is exceptional. Not a lot of one off’s, so the type list can be fairly static for a couple weeks at a time, but when it’s all solid to exceptional, that isn’t a bad thing!“

“No one had added this yet? A shame. This is in an industrial park but the location was clearly built to suit and features a very nice tasting room with a large oval bar. Glass doors show a view of the brewery which looks to be about as small as an airport hangar. This was the day before Brewvival but they had a bunch of beers on tap for a buck a four ounce sample. Bottles for sale as well as some swag. The bar staff was great despite a pretty big crowd. No food but there was a food truck outside. The beer from these guys was and has always been top notch. “Stopped here on the recommendation of one of the Charleston Beer Exchange guys. 16 taps usually, but there were 10 when I went because they were about to start a tap takeover. Some rarities on tap. I didn’t eat but I heard the food is excellent. I did see someone had just finished when I arrived and had a very empty plate. Low key ambience is very comfortable. The bartender was a little passive at first but was eventually VERY helpful in getting me directions to my next destination. $3 tip for one beer helpful. Nice place.“

“Actually a pretty nice Whole Foods. Larger store, though old school in vibe (most people probably don’t know what this means) they have a lot of the newer style venues (including a growler station), the employees are good and its clean and well presented. The store team leader should be proud. I did eat and the food was solid. The beer selection is pretty solid. A cooler full of 6 packs and separate sections full of singles and large format beers. There is also a growler fill station with 6 or 8 taps. Prices are OK, parking is fine (its a shopping center). There is a Staples in this shopping center as well. I wouldn’t mention it except that WFMs and Staple tend to be in the same shopping center A LOT. Weird.“
