“Came here during Kerrville trip. About 6 beers on tap with a flight for $12.95. Beers are pretty average however the coconut porter and saison were decent. Food is expensive but expected in these touristy spots“

“Yes, it's just a grocery store, but they have a fairly large selection of cold singles for purchase, and good prices. And an even larger selection of 6-packs, 12-packs, and cases. I usually find more unique singles here than I do at Total Wine - and better pricing.“

“Staff was friendly but not very attentive. Of the few house brews they had, they we’re out of one and the others weren’t great. Food was decent.“

“Visited here in late November ’15 on a Monday evening while in the area for business. Quaint little setting, appears to be former residence. Small bar to sit at, room for about for or five. Have only about five of their own on tap, available in a sample, half pints or pints and I saw them filling growlers as well. Beer was serviceable, no boundary stretchers. Food has kind of a game oriented menu with some German favorites thrown in . I had quail, a first for me and enjoyed it. Service left just a bit to be desired, would have gone for a third half pint if someone would have noticed my empty glass.“

“Brewery taps only for beer (a couple cider taps as well), but a decent variety and the food was great by itself, but even better with the beer. Ducky Hour too! (happy hour)“

“Visited October 2011.

Stopped in for dinner while out in San Antonio. I’m not sure how to pronounce the name of the city but in my head I’m still laughing about going to Boo-urns. Also, while driving along the river it became obivous why this place is called Dodging Duck. There are tons of geese and ducks all over the place and sometimes they run across the street... I didn’t see any get hit but I can imagine that there is a fair amount of swerving going on.

The restaurant is an interesting set up with several rooms and plenty of out door seating. I chose the patio. This seems like a large one story house converted to a restaurant judging by the floor plan. The food was alright as was the beer and service. They only had four beers on tap and two were seasonal (Ducktoberfest and Pumpkinhead) along with an Irish red and an IPA. Kind of an odd combo but at least a diverse lineup. All around an average place but in a very nice setting and kind of far away from other beer destinations. Glad I went but it’s a bit too far away from anywhere I’ll be visiting (probably) to return.“

“Nice location on the river and easy to get to. Small rooms with not many views, but there ris nice seating outside. The pale ale and th IPA were my favorites of the evening. The food was excellant, but al-in-all it was a bit expensive. Pints were $4.95 and the desert was $8.95. The desert was good but for the size it could have been less expensive.“

“Stopped in for a late lunch. Had a couple brews at the bar while waiting for a table. The IPA and the Steam Style Ale were very good. The Winter stle brew with pecans, cinnamon and sweet malts was wonderful but filling. Food was tasty, and very good portion size. The chili was some of the best I have had in quite awhile. Sandwiches were very fresh and filling. Service was efficient and friendly. It’s a smaller place, so be prepared a wait when busy. The location being on the river is wonderful. Will definitely be back again.“

“I can’t say I was impressed at all with this place.... The beers were well... just bad. The cost was very very high, and ambiance was ok, its just an old house. Go find a better place folks.“

“A very nice little brewpub in Boerne, about 20 minutes outside of NE San Antonio (Fiesta Texas, UTSA area). Located on River Road near Cibolo Creek, Dodging Duck has a nice outdoor patio as well as seating inside. There are typically four house beers available as well as a nice selection of wine. The beers are available in 4 ounce samplers, half pints and full pints, and can be filled in growlers for take home. The food is nothing too fancy but is pretty good. Definitely place worthy of stopping if you are driving down I-10 and are passing through Boerne.“

“i really liked this place, but their do lose points because their beer is only just above brewpub quality and their only had 3 beers on tap.. but the onion rings are really fuckin tasty and the service is very good and warm .. a quiet brewpub that just need a a few more brews on tap, other than that...“

“Really neat little brewpub in a very small town 30 minutes outside San Antonio. Small town mom-and-pop feel. The bartender Chloe gave us awesome service. All we bought was a sampler, but she acted like we’d spent $100 in the place. Her and many of the staff are headed to GABF this year so it’s obvious this place employs beer people. The beer itself is evident of a small town: probably good in the neighborhood, but overall just ok. Selection was only the house beers, which is fine, but would be nice to see 6+ at any brewpub regardless of size. Will definitely go back to sample others next time I’m in town and to try the food.“

“Okay so the beer wasn’t great. I would still go back to this place though to try out their food. Chad and I sat at the bar and chatted with one of the most excited people we have encountered in San Antonio, Chloe. One of the coolest bartenders I have met. She gave great suggestions in where to go while in town that are off the beaten path, and she will be going to GABF this year too. How many bartenders can say that? Not many I would imagine. Had a great time. Small town fun for sure.“

“Visited on a Sunday afternoon in March. The weather was sunny with a nice breeze, so the family sat on the front porch. The view from the porch is the road, then the river and was a nice relaxing view. The interior is really small, with a bunch of unique small rooms and a small bar. Place had a lot of character, and was very comfortable. The service was attentive, though not particularly chatty about the beer. We ordered a variety of food, and it was all ok. They had 4 beers on, and I tried all of them. The ranged from decent to pretty darn good. This was a fun stop, and certainly one I would recommend for anyone traveling in or out of San Antonio on I-10.

76 = ★★★ (Worth the visit, must for locals, and visitors with time)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“A nice place to have in a small town like Boerne. In many ways I am jealous. Now the down side. Beers were competent at best - nothing exciting. ESB, Hefe, Dopplebock, and Stout when I visited. Again nothing wrong, but nothing great. Service was weak, given that we were the only ones there. Food while decent was not fantastic. The best part: sitting outside on a Spring afternoon with a decent beer watching the ducks and geese across the street in the creek. If you are in Boerne, stop. If you are passing through San Antonio, don’t.“

“Great brewery in a quant Hill Country town. Converted old house surrounded by old houses. Looks across the street to a long parkway by a creek/river. Food is actually pretty damn good, and the menu is more than just basic bar food. The brats are great. The beer is mixed, but mostly pretty good. Patio seating is limited, but on a nice day it sure is fun. You can bring well-behaved dogs as well.“

“A nice little out of the way place. Essentially in an old house. The beers ranged from very good to mediocre. While I was there, the brewer was sitting next to me and was making me nervous looking at my notes! I ate there, but can’t remember if it was good or not. Worth stopping by if you are in the Hill Country.“

“Paltry selection, mediocre beer. Not a bad place; just needs more ooomph. The waitresses are flippin’ hot, and I did them all when I was there- at their request.“

“Bitter Porter per my hubbie (a dark beer lover). I of course enjoyed the IPA. I haven’t met an IPA I don’t like yet. Only 4 choices in beer. Food seemed incredibly expensive, but we weren’t there for the food so settled for a $5.00 bowl of chips and salsa (about 15 chips, so you do the math on that one). Doubtful we’ll go back.“

“Cool quirky little place in an old house right on the river outside San Antonio. I went here right after eye surgery in 2003 so I could barely see. But I could taste the quality, beefy beers and enjoy the friendly staff. Worth a visit!“

“Update 1/6. Went here on New Years Day. The food was good, service was prompt, and the beers were decent. Nice setting on the river, but the vehicle traffic can be loud and disturbing if you are sitting on the front porch. I had the ESB and Porter, both very good beers. I’ll have to come back for dinner.“

“A great place to grab a few beers right outside of San Antonio. Ray (brewmaster) is a great guy and eager to talk about beer with anyone. Much better than average menu and food. Beers range from average to very good IMO. Go check out the river across street after you’re done here.“
