“located near my hotel, in the almost right in the middle of the DFW metroplex. Large liquor and wine store. That seems to be most of their business. An aisle of beer, mostly warm six packs. A row of coolers have cold six packs and a few bombers. Not a bad place to rip a few quick ticks when traveling in, but I’d imagine one could exhaust their supply pretty quickly.“

“This place has changed a whole lot since they converted a portion of the gas station into a liquor store. The prices seem to have gotten a good deal better, much more on par with the other good beer stores in the area and the selection is still top notch. They are always among the first to get anything new into town. The staff has become a lot more helpful as well. I am always greeted and asked if I need any help or have any questions. On top of it all, they now have a decent selection of bourbon and scotch as well...which helps.“

“i have come here a few times for beer but i usually end up buying at other local stores. you can not split up six packs which is very lame and their prices are the highest out of everywhere i have been. the only reason i would ever shop here is for buying a rare bottle that i won’t be able to find at my normal beer stores.“

“This store is very inconsistent. Sometimes the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, other times the people seem completely disinterested/rude and know little to nothing about beer. Until a few months ago, Hall’s was always among the first stores in the Dallas area to get new beers and often times had beers that were nowhere else in the area. For example, they have had Allagash Victor, Victoria, Four, etc... for months, while no one else outside of Houston and Austin has gotten any. That being said, several months ago (Fall 2010) they remodeled the store and switched to also selling liquor. Since that time, business has seemed to really pick up - the store is always packed - but the selection has suffered. There are beers available in DFW that they now don’t stock and others they get weeks after other stores. The selection is still very good, just not as good as it was before the switch to liquor sales. Also, the prices are among the highest in the Metroplex and they do not sell singles. They also sell sandwiches in the deli, which are a little expensive, but pretty good nonetheless.“

“Still part of a gas station, but recently was turned into a full-on liquor store, and is now sectioned off from the gas station part of the building. Mostly overpriced, but great selection, and some beers that are hard to find elsewhere. Friendly enough staff.“

“I have been going to this place for years. Even though I live about 15 miles away it’s still worth the drive and the prices to find what I can’t get in my area.“

“I am glad I stumbled upon this place. The owner was glad to chat with me and walk me through one of my early recipes. He set me up with the correct ingredients, a copy of a recipe and all the equipment I will need. Cool place with a old-tyme feel.“

“This is a beer store that sells gas. 90% of it is overpriced, but, if you double-check, you can find a few fairly priced items. Staff was knowledgeable and offered assistance. Great selection for NTX--Saw several bottles not found anywhere else (Central Mark-Up, Mr. Gs, K and B, etc). Cheap/cool pint glasses in back (great if most beer you drink is "pint-able"). If it’s out of the way for you, just go once and let that visit be your guiding light from then on out. Maybe the last place in DFW that still has Utopias available.“

“Probably one of the best selections of craft beer and bombers on North Texas. The layout is a little strange and I found some of the beer selection to be hidden...it was kinda like a treasure hunt. Their wine selection is large and laid out by region (California, France, etc), but their beer is not...it’s just kinda all over the place (found the Oskar Blues selection over by Coors and Bud but not by the other Colorado craft beers). Saw some stuff here I’d never seen before (Sam Adams Utopias for instance). Great selection of drinking glasses. Prices are a bit higher than I’ve seen anywhere else. Staff is friendly.“

“Wow, what they say is true. This place really does have by far the best selection in DFW. Gas station, with a huge selection of wine and beer. Lots of local Texas wines. A little market with fresh produce and deli in the back. Helpful staff. Beers are scattered all over the place, and they are just things you don’t see else where in Dallas. No ice ciders, and minimal ciders in general. A few meads, including two I hadn’t seen before. Sake selection was good, but not great. Layout isn’t great. This place is damn expensive as well. A bit out of the way for me as well.“

“Stopped by here while I was driving to Hall’s. Nice store, has a Central Market type feel. High end grocery shopping. The beer selection was about the same as others. I didn’t find anything that I can’t find in other area stores. However their prices are consistently lower than other locations. Got a great deal on La Folie, so I will definitely return.“

“Amazing selection for a GAS STATION. Heard about it from a friend and made the trip up. I wasn’t disappointed in the selection. Was able to pick up some Sam Adams specialty brews that I had never seen before. Prices were much higher than I was used to seeing, but what are ya gonna do? It’s a gas station.“

“Best selection in DFW coupled with the worst prices. Out of the way for me, but I buy my firewood here in the winter, so I can never stop myself from looking around. And damned if I don’t al;ways see something new, but only buy about 50% of the time because of the prices- not because I can’t afford, but for the princeable of the thing. Charlie Hall loves and admits to being a ripoff.“

“They offer just about anything from all the US Breweries such as New Belgian and Kona. Even the local Brewery in Ft. Worth. They also bring in a lot of imported brew from Germany Belgian and the UK. And my wife stays happy due to their big wine selection. I usually spend at least 30 minutes in this place trying to figure out what I want to buy. I rated food as NA because although they do have a deli in there, It’s not open when I frequent the place, so I’ve never had their food. It’s pricey, but like I said, no one else has this selection.“

“I like the country store feel to this place - they sell a lot more than beer supplies here. It’s almost like the beer supplies portion was an afterhtought but they have a decent selection for the small space alloted. The hops don’t look fresh, but they have turned out fine both times that I bought from them. Do NOT go by the prices on their web site as they are way out of date and the in store prices are much higher. I will continue buying my supplies online because they seem fresher and cheaper. However, I’ll come here from time to time as it is the most cenvenient homebrew supply store to my neghborhood.“

“This is a great place; they have a good and wide selection of beers, even if very few rarities; they were pricey ’cause I got singles, but at least this is the first place here in Texas where they allowed me to "break" the 6P and choose whatever I want.
Some DFH, including an expensive Raison d’Extra, many Victory, Left Hand and other more or less known micros.
They also have a speciality food shop that seems interesting, where I was buying some spices.“

“Compared to Waco, this place is a Mecca for beers. Lots of singles to choose from... of course, I wish they offerend *more* as singles and would break up some of those 6’s. Great selection of Great Divide, Rogue, Avery, Unibroue, and others. And for those guys from 2004 who were talking about Unibroue 10... Today I bought a bottle. And drank it. Heh. Anyhow, it’s 2 miles from my mother-in-law’s house... I’ll be back!“

“This place has a great selection but is too fucking expensive. Charley Hall prices his shit around 32% margin while S&K & Mr G’s are at 25 % and Whole Foods or Central Mkt are around 22%. F You Charley.“

“An upscale Central Market experience shrunk down about 20%. Many favorite beers to select from. Maybe 50 feet of beer case with many favorites from around the world. Ayinger, Lindemann’s etc. etc. etc. It gives Hall’s a real run for its money. When I want a huge selection and perhaps a sliced BBQ sandwich I head to Halls. When I want good beer and good food to take home I head to Market Street United . For example, the other day I picked up a full Prime Rib dinner and Unibroue La Fin Du Monde. nuff said. I’m lucky; Halls and United Market are close by. Otherwise I’d have to journey 25 miles to Central Market for brew and grub.“

“Look, when you’re beer hunting in DFW, you’re talking differences at the margin: perhaps Central Market doesn’t have the full line of Julius Echter available when you go; or perhaps Mr G’s had Old Ruffian when other stores in the area didn’t yet have it out. Whatever. It’s not like we’re talking about one store being the BE ALL END ALL of beer hunting. Halls has some marginal victories at the high end and the low end: I’d never even heard of, much less seen, Schaefer’s Light (for $1.09 for a big can!); and they had Avery The Beast’s new release. But since I’d had The Beast in its previous release (bought at Central Market), how big of a deal is this? Good: almost all beer in coolers, Chaucer’s Mead (the only place I’ve seen it in DFW so far), sake selection comparable to Central Market-Lovers Lane. But will I make special trips out here? No. But I will check it out when I’m headed to Fort Worth or Tad’s for any reason.“

FANTASTIC selection!! Probably the best or 2nd best one around!! 10/22/2004 they still had Unibroue 10 on the shelf!! They don’t anymore though... :“
