“Visited late March, 2019 with a friend while visiting Texas. Cool enough place. Sort of a cross between a dive bar and a warehouse brewery. Cement floors, wood and tin on the walls, sorta hippy-ish bartenders - you get the vibe. We felt comfortable and welcome. There was another brewery in the area that had closed and they were celebrating having old cans of their IPA which made me question their taste in beer, but hey. Bartenders and regulars were friendly and talkative. It was kind of a slow night so we all chatted quite a bit. Beer was good, nothing horrible, nothing to phone home about. I'd pop in again if visiting my friend in Denton.“

“Stopped in with some friends late February, 2016. All you can eat ribs and two sides for $10 that night! And they let me do flights! The food was good, obviously a good value, and they had good beers on tap. This isn’t a beer destination, but if your tummy’s a grumblin’ and you want some tasty BBQ with some awesome craft beer, stop on in. They did have a mix-up with some of the taps and I was able to tell them which was which, which cracked me up. Glad to have been of service. Haha!“

“I love Oak St. Draft House. So many excellent beers on tap, and countless bottles. Every week there’s at least one special tapping. Awesome bar tenders, and glorious patio. Not to mention that it is an old house, so you can lounge in whichever room you want.“

“The Denton location is the first Mellow Mushroom I have ever been to. It will not be the last. Great beer selection (2012 Wealth and Taste was on when I visited in July 2013) and the bar staff and waitresses seemed to know their beer. The pizza, hummus and pretzels were also outstanding. Great place just a few blocks off the square. Can’t wait to visit the Frisco location and the about to open location in McKinney.“

“I was in the greater DFW area this past weekend...combining work and pleasure...but I had little available time for beer travel. Do to some very fortunate timing (in spite of serious rush hour traffic) I was able to sandwich the Oak St between a business meeting in Waco and a dinner engagement in Dallas...3 hours or driving for less than 40 mins of drinking. But let me tell you...it was worth the detour and effort to get here. This place is unique...special...and memorable!. I love the house...the bar with no seats...the outside courtyard & bar...and the fact that you must "join" the club to drink in an otherwise dry town. The staff was very helpful and amicable and the local Texas beers I came for worth the trip alone (for more about Texas beers checkout my review of Waco’s Dancing Bear from this same beer trip). All in all I highly recommend a visit here...don’t hesitate to go out of your way to visit like I did...the true craft beer fan won’t be disappointed.“

“I LOVE this place....Take an old house in historic downtown Denton and turn it into a good beer bar, Hell yeah!!!! I have never seen anything like it before but the atmosphere if terrific! Find a room, crash out on a couch and enjoy the beer as if at a good friends house. The back yard kicks ass too! Round tables with tents and picnic tables shaded by trees. This place is a MUST VISIT for a beer geek, I forgot to mention they have like 42 taps! I wish I lived closer to this place! Love It!!!“

“My friend Olga took me here and I was amazed at some of the more unusual imports and micros that I found in a non-descript Fina gas station. The who helped us and rang us up does the selection and buying for the store and says a lot of their inventory is a result of people’s, both locals and students, requests. Prices seemed fair. All were available chilled and there were some brewerie’s glassware available at good prices too. It was reasonably clean although I didn’t use the bathroom. Beers had easy access. Typical gas station snacks. A good find!“

“I don’t particularly care for this place. Although the store does carry a good selection of beer, especially for Denton, it is way overpriced. Expect to pay at least $2 more for beer here than you would anywhere else in the city. Add that with the crappy customer service and the lack of parking, (it is a gas station after all), this place should probably avoided unless you can’t help it.“

“Really good college bar down in Denton. Ambiance is amazing for a college town, i.e isn’t your typical college hang out, feels more like a neighborhood bar than anything else. Selection for the area is good. The owner as of late had been bringing a lot more specialty and craft brews on tap as well as in bottles. Food is cheap and pretty damn good. Only place I know of where you can get a bacon cheeseburger and fries for $5 along with a pint of beer for $2. If you find yourself on fry street down in Denton this is a good place to check out.“

“I have a buddy who lives in Denton and this is his go to place for craft beer. I was impressed by the selection as far as the area goes, but being from North Dallas I have several places nearby with as good or better selection. I like the area near the front that showcases the newest brews, and I feel this place is one that really helps the cause of better beer for the masses. Prices are on par with most Dallas beer centric spots, which isn’t great.“

“For the city they have one of the best selections, but I don’t find myself in Denton much. If I did I’d shop here pretty often I imagine. Staff is clueless, and if prices aren’t marked they are very confused. I bought a Hop Stoopid bomber which is $3.99 everywhere else, and the cashier said "Well, I don’t know what the price is but all those big beers are $8-10 so I’m going to let you have this for $6." I told her it was $4 everywhere but she didn’t believe me. Gave it to me for $4.99 but I still felt a little shafted. Good selection for Denton, above average for the DFW area too. Never eaten here, but I hear it’s decent.“

“As far as beer bars go, this isn’t great. A few decent bottles, 3 Franconia taps (including their house tap) and a few Boulevard taps (nothing special). Smokey, pool hall atmosphere. As far as college bars go, on the other hand, this is pretty nice. They did seem to have serious line issues, as all three beers sampled had serious carbonation issues and two of them (which I have had before) were slightly sour and off tasting.“

“Decent selection for Denton. Seems to lack large format bottles, but plenty of six packs. That said, didn’t see anything that wasn’t down in Dallas, so I didn’t buy anything... Bottles were all over the place, so not well organized. Wine selection looked pretty decent. Didn’t get to try their bbq as we went to Rudy’s a few blocks away. Not bad if you are in the area.“

“Great place to stop by for some beer and BBQ. I drove up to Denton because they were holding a 6 of Divine Reserve 8 for me. The staff members were friendly as Hell and were fairly knowledgeable. Had a large selection and they break up any 6 packs. Coolers wrap around the south end and they have bombers in the dining area that are room temperature. Some were very dusty and looked like they had been there for awhile. One thing that bothered me is that they had the top of the racks lined with bottles....in direct sunlight. No protection at all and those bottles are more than likely a skunk bomb. I would travel out of the way to come here, especially for the hot employees.“

“this is pretty much just a smoke filled college bar with pool table, darts, and a few video games. they have close to 30 taps in the place which is second most in denton that i know of. i am glad that they have franconia on tap. i think they have around 15-20 bottles to select froma also. its an ok place i just dont like the smoke.“

“This is a college bar that started to sell a local craft/micro brew, Franconia. The Franconia Brewery also did a contract brew for them called Lucky Lou’s #7. This place is pretty nice for a college town bar, a few pool tables and a large front patio with plenty of seating and lit up nicely.....you will find alot of college kids here, but they seemed to flock to the new release of the Lucky #7. It’s a fun place if your in college and they seem to get better beers in these days.“

“Ericandersnavy took me here. Very small gas station type store but who would have thought that they had the selection that they did, I was kinda impressed....A small store with only 1 or 2 small coolers with Macros and about 8 others filled with goos beers.....They have a nice selection of styles, I was shocked!.......This place may be small, but nice selection for the size given.......I reccomend, right by UNT.....“

“not a bad place to go except for the fact that i hate the traffic on that side of town. anyway the selection is decent. they let you build a six pack off of a certain shelf of about 30 different beers. none of the beers are kept in coolers so if you want one chilled you are gonna have to do it yourself. they do have wine tastings on saturdays and you can occassionally see the beer mixed in as well.“

“This is my place of choice in denton. They have a couple of stores also, one that holds wine tastings. I am trying to include beer tastings as well. The BBQ is ok along with the price. Selection is the best in Denton hands down. Service is always friendly and sometimes the owner is there who doesnt mind chatting at all.“

“Talk about a hole in the wall. Small mini mart that has all the bum wines and macros, and in addition a selection of craft beer that tops central market in Dallas’s. Have everything you could find in North Texas. Picked up some unibroue 17 and north coast cru dor. The employees were oblivious.“
