“Had dinner here on way to AZ in January Saturday evening. Nice large clean place with lots of sports TVs. Good prompt service. The food was good for a chain place, The Beer was tourist beer, just good enough to be called craft, but not good enough to go here for the beer. Go for the food.“

“Visited here in late May '22 on a Sunday evening. Located a stone's throw from the border in downtown El Paso. Dark interior, kind of a biker bar feel to it, lots of skeleton imagery. Excellent selections, lot of styles represented, some boundary stretchers. Probably about 15 on tap, I had a Helles, a special blonde ale brewed with Nilla wafers and an IPA. Talkative local crowd, everyone seemed to know each other. Glad I stopped by. Have food, Mexican oriented, just had an appetizer, some street corn and it was outstanding.“

“Visited here on a Sunday afternoon in late May '22 while in the area hiking. Located in an industrial park - you would miss it if you weren't looking for it. Cozy interior, small bar area, several tables scattered about. Solid selection, about 15 or so of their own on tap. I had a blonde, porter and a pale alle and all three were top notch. Friendly staff, decent prices. Close to I-10 for those just passing through town.“

“Visited here in late May '22 while in the area for a hiking trip. Typical Total Wine, which is a good thing for a ticker like me. hundreds of singles, lots of Texas and New Mexico breweries represented. Laid out nicely, by style and a special section for seasonals. Does not appear to have a growler station if that is what you are looking for. great place to stock up for the next few days.“

“Small taproom, basically just a long bar with interesting tap handles. Deck wasn't being used despite decent weather. Nice variety of beer styles, pretty tasty stuff. Very tasty food, especially Sunday brunch. Street parking was no problem. Worth a look.“

“The patio is the highlight here, with a tap system water feature and mountain views. Large selection of beers with a decent amount of turnover and frequent specials. Very friendly helpful servers. Flights possible. Plenty of room in the parking lot. Tasty elevated pub food. Worth a look for sure.“

“Stripmall location with a good view from the parking lot. Although they have a patio it's used for storage. Small serving bar with a couple of stools plus restaurant tables. Very tasty beers and a good variety of styles. Friendly helpful staff. Permanent food truck with very tasty food. One of my favorites in town.“

“Located close to I10, this little brewery is easy to hit if you are just passing through (as I was). It is located in small industrial park with lots of parking. The staff were super friendly and offered small tastes for free or flights of 4 for larger tastes at a reasonable price. The beers were decent, but none of the five I sampled were exceptional. Still worth a stop, though.“

“Don’t let the strip mall location scare you away. Inside there is a pretty nice craft beer bar. The inside vibe is fairly dark and eclectic but they’ve got a nice selection of beers to go plus about 12-15 taps for drafts (including sampler sets) and growler fills. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Best choice on the east side of El Paso for a draft beer or grabbing some singles to go. I’ll definitely stop again.“

“I was completely surprised to find this awesome beer bar in downtown El Paso. They have a wonderful selection of draft and bottled beer which leans heavy on Texas locals. The have a food menu that focuses on panini sandwiches, salads, and charcuterie. The Cheeser sandwich was huge and tasty plus the side salad was almost a meal in itself. Very friendly service. You can also get bottles and cans to go for a discount plus they fill growlers. Weekday happy hour is 3-7. Small seating area inside so not good for kids or big groups. Plenty of parking nearby. Very friendly servers.“

“I figured I better add a true review to compete with the owner/employee script below so here we go: a nice liquor store attached to a great BBQ joint. What else do you need? Decent selection that included a good selection of NM, AZ and some TX locals. You can get a mixed 6-pack for about $10 which is a great deal. Friendly service. Bonus that since they sit on NM property, they can sell alcohol on Sundays which is a no-no in TX! Worth a stop/browse and definitely eat at the connect BBQ restaurant.“

“My fiancé and I visited the newly opened store in San Antonio and we were pleasantly surprised. The food menu changes daily with amazing picks for both her (vegetarian) and me and the quality an freshness of the food was amazing. Steer clear of the desserts as they are overpriced and lack in flavor and originality. They have a few beer menus and their overall selection was amazing.“

“Had a wonderful experience. The beer selections were top notch. The food was the highlight of the evening. I had the ceviche and the Capo pizza, both were tremendous. They offered different flights of beer and they have a great outdoor patio with a really cool fountain done up with beer taps.“

“Nice beer drinking establishment not far from the Sun Bowl. Went in search of Texas beers and was happy to see a half dozen on tap including 2 from Big Bend in Alpine. They have prechosen flights so I couldn’t make my own. Pretty good selection of US micros and internationals. Nice stop I’d recommend for all beer fans.“

Ambiance: Unassuming restaurant on the side of the road, until you get to the wooden doors and see the bas-relief monk carved in the middle. On entry you have a spacious, wood-paneled dining room with easy access to plenty of outside seating. Bar is long and dominates the front of the place, and was plenty spacious at 5 in the afternoon. Service: Bar service was very attentive without being in my face, knowledgeable without being snobbish, and friendly without seeming phony. Saw plenty of other servers interact with customers in the same way, and the service staff all seemed to like each other too. Friendly co-drinkers as well. It was a really nice vibe. Selection: phenomenal. I didn’t count the taps, but I believe it when ratebeer says 70, and the bottle list was probably more like 150. Everything was well-curated and organized. They even had a kick-ass Gulden Draak tap with a giant golden dragon’s head on top. The taps were clearly regularly rotated, with plenty of local-ish stuff (Texas but not El Paso, which apparently does not have it’s own brewery) and lots of good regional (Colorado stuff like Great Divide and Odell’s) and national craft as well. Taps seemed pretty well-balanced (I liked the Belgian rotator idea, AND they had Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen on draught!), and seemed only a bit light on the dark stuff like stouts and porters, skewing a bit more to the IPA and Pale Ale side. Hardly a major complaint. Food: Ordered the fries with three dipping sauces. Excellent. Also had the three sliders, all of which were delicious. Value: Traveling from DC, this seemed like a great value. I had the fries, burgers, and three beers for $40. Overall: When I found out I was traveling to El Paso, I came to ratebeer to find the best beer bar in El Paso. This place was at the top of the list (really, the only game in town), and it deserves to be. If this was in Maryland, I’d be going every week. Loved this place, and heartily recommend it to anyone.“

“Great place. Cool bar with a great selection. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable without being pushy or smug like a lot of guys at places like this. Good food as well. Only minor criticism is that the place is expensive, especially by El Paso standards, but it’s worth it.“

“This place is awesome! No offense to El Paso but I was’t expecting much. Cool decor with sweet patio and a beer tap fountain that is sweet. Came here two nights in a row and food is excellent, had great burger with pears and blue cheese one night and rabbit tacos second. Both nights two separate servers were beyond friendly and attentive. tons of taps with great selection. I had some Jester King, Prairie Artisinal, and St Arnolds all things i can’t get. They also have scotch and cigars, i would live here if i was from neighborhood. prices were probably high for area but i’m from Manhattan so seemed reasonable to me.“

“70 impressive taps. 8-place dull, dark wood bar. Grey contrete floor. Dozend and a half tall wooden tables and similar number low tables. Large outdoor patio with long wooden table. Rock and roll tunes inside without any obnoxious sports TVs. 60/40 men/women, most 20s-40s. Beer specials on chalkboards but without prices that can range from $4 to $7 per beer. Tuesday Logo Pint night with glass included (at an additional cost on the final bill(. Great local/regional/national/import craft beer selection. Friendly, informed servers. Two authentic dartboards with room to throw. Above average pub fare, with great looking thin-crust pizza and burgers with quality buns. Variety of salads, sweet potato fries, impressive fish & chips, rabbit dish. Nice variety of U.S. craft beers.“

“Just a standard SW bar with a huge beer garden. however, they have decent specials and selection of beer. Only 6 taps however, their bottle selection is pretty decent. atmosphere is cozy but mostly college aged kids. can get a bit crowded on a cold EP day when the beer garden is not open.“

“The best bar in El Paso. Has a wide slection of beer from around the world. Can’t giv an exact number to either bottles or drafts as they are always changing. There is an outdoor patio for smokers and is heated by space heaters in the winter. In addition to their awesome beer selection they have scotch, wine, cigars, and a recently added kitchen. The staff are cool and there is a club you can join called the hoptimus. Every time you drink 3 different beers you haven’t had at the hoppy monk you earn points. The membership cost $18 and comes with a card to keep track of your brews and a hoppy monk t-shirt which has the h.s. thompson quote, "good people drink good beer". The lighting inside is dim and there is loud music. However, the bar never really gets so loud that it becomes annoying like a club would. Mostly a chill and relaxed place to enjoy the best beer in the world. My favorite place to hang out in el paso!“

“Went on a Friday night and the place was jammed, but the service was still great. Their own beer is pretty average by brewpup standards, but they also have a great selection of bottles, particularly Belgian. Food was also great, if a little pricy by El Paso standards. Highly recommended.“

“Out in the West Texas town of El Paso I fell in love with a Mexican girl. Night-time would find me in Rosa’s cantina; Music would play and Felina would whirl. Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina, Wicked and evil while casting a spell. My love was deep for this Mexican maiden; I was in love but in vain, I could tell. One night a wild young cowboy came in, Wild as the West Texas wind. Dashing and daring, A drink he was sharing With wicked Felina, The girl that I loved. .................... Back in El Paso my life would be worthless. Everything’s gone in life; nothing is left. It’s been so long since I’ve seen the young maiden My love is stronger than my fear of death. I saddled up and away I did go, Riding alone in the dark. Maybe tomorrow A bullet may find me. Tonight nothing’s worse than this Pain in my heart. And at last here I Am on the hill overlooking El Paso; I can see Rosa’s cantina below. My love is strong and it pushes me onward. Down off the hill to Felina I go. Off to my right I see five mounted cowboys; Off to my left ride a dozen or more. Shouting and shooting I can’t let them catch me. I have to make it to Rosa’s back door. Something is dreadfully wrong for I feel A deep burning pain in my side. Though I am trying To stay in the saddle, I’m getting weary, Unable to ride. But my love for Felina is strong and I rise where I’ve fallen, Though I am weary I can’t stop to rest. I see the white puff of smoke from the rifle. I feel the bullet go deep in my chest. From out of nowhere Felina has found me, Kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side. Cradled by two loving arms that I’ll die for, One little kiss and Felina, good-bye. .............................................and now I’m going to the Hoppy Monk where I can get a nice pint of regional, national, and international quality brew served in a friendly, unpretentious environment playing nice music. A town worthy of the best Western ballad ever sang also deserves a nice beer bar, El Paso is an interesting place :)“

“pretty much your typical Spec’s chain liquor store. May have a little less selection than some in central TX, but for el paso, this is the best store your going to find. Prices are very reasonable and service is pretty reliable. My go-to place for sure to buy good beers in El Paso.“

“Ok, im not giving this place a lower rating due to dislike with it. I actually like this place quite a bit. Its pretty much your standard BJ’s but definately not a bad thing if you ask me. If you like hot hispanic ladies, there are tons of them here! Beer is your typical BJ’s (not bad not great) and alot of guest taps (stone, widmer, saint arnold). food is fantastic! probably the best chain food i have ever had! I go here fairly often.“

“HANDS DOWN the best beer place your going to see on I-10 between San Antonio and Tucson. 65 taps, ranging from basic texas micros (real ale, st arnold), bigger micros (rogue, Stone, Dogfish head, North Coast) to Belgians on tap. The atmosphere is great-friendly people and defnately good to see a good beer bar in what has been such a beer wasteland town. El Paso maybe behind the times, but this place is definately fantastic. It feels to be moddled after flying saucer and/or gingermans. I love to go to this place.“

“Possibly the largest bottled selection in the city. Maybe even the region. They told me they have over 250 different beers. They also let you build your own 6 pack, which after tax comes out to just under $10. That makes Side Door the single best place to buy beer in the greater El Paso area. Huge selection, great price. They even carry a few Trappist beers. Last time I went they had 3 different types of Chimay as well as Trappist Rochefort 10 (that one went for ~ $6 a bottle). Great service. If they don’t have a beer, they are willing to custom order it for you if you ask. They apparently also have beer tastings too, though I haven’t been to one yet. Open till midnight every night. Right next door to State Line BBQ. According to their website, "Our address is Texas but we’re in New Mexico."“

“The brewhouse has a good variety of beers on tap with solid quality across the board. The Bartender was well versed in the beers on tap. The menu has a good variety. I had the Shrimp Pasta which was quite good. Service was good and dependable. This is a real "oasis" for good beers as there is not a lot to pick from in El Paso.“
