“Friendly and quick service. The area is great and this is a nice stop if nearby. About 20-25 beers on tap; mostly local. Just had steamed shrimp appetizer, but it was good.“

“After going to Yorktown for Coast Guard training back in the day, this was a decent hangout when I wanted to get off base. About 10 VA taps with some out of state offerings, DFH, Heavy Seas, Flying Dog and Victory. BMC beers as well. Food was absolutely excellent with pretty quick service for a Saturday afternoon. Would go back if given the opportunity.“

“Visited here in early July ’15 while in town for business. Nautical themed, casual restaurant with a Jimmy Buffett kind of feel to it. Busy at happy hour on a Thursday night, we were lucky to belly up to the bar for full service after hovering around a bit. Have a wide selection of craft with an emphasis on mainly Virginia regionals - about 25 or so taps. Nice electronic sign that shows everything you want to about the beer (abv, size, price, style) - and also a keg that changes color and show the amount as it gets closer to empty. Bartenders were pretty quick to respond to requests. I had a hankering for crab ever since I had been in the area and was able to get a Lump Crab and Pesto Pizza and it was delicious. Prices were reasonable. Worth a visit if in the area.“

“Visited here in early July ’15 while in town for business, Fun little pub with a loud, energetic crowd and friendly, talkative staff. Just had appetizers - crab bites and they were delicious. Not a craft heavy beer menu, but enough for an out of towner to pick up a tick or two of Virginia beers. Have about 20 on tap, 40 or so bottles - many macros, Nice place to stop after walking along the historic waterfront.“

“Been here several times on account of work trips to the East Coast. As of today, I see there’s only seven reviews, so I feel obligated to say something. Its always clean and the service is almost always good. I was there with a 22 person party once and we were served very quickly. The selection is good as I remember them having some Stone, Dogfish Head, Victory, Rogue, and Heavy Seas. The food, if you go here, please get their BBQ, you will not be disappoionted. The value, ha, its VA, if you’re disappointed, apparently, you have not experienced the rest of the nation - in other words, awesome! Overall, stellar place, I always go back whenever I get orders to Yorktown for a CG School.“

“First visited in summer 2014. Located right on the water on the relatively newly revitalized Yorktown waterfront, this is a nice, classical American pub. They offered an impressive array of quality American craft beer. The service was good, the beer knowledge reasonable, and the food delivered promptly and well prepared. Only positive things to say and I’m likely to return often.“

“UPDATE> I live about a mile from this place, and still pop in from time to time because they do tend to offer a great lineup of rotating, regional beers. But I’m significantly marking them down now because of two things: The service is getting worse and worse, with ditzy and unimpressive staff. And, more importantly, they charge incredibly high prices for the beers they offer. Most Virginia pints are now selling for $10, and can probably be had elsewhere in the area for $6-7. The food’s good, but not THAT good. ORIGINAL REVIEW> I keep finding places I thought I’d rated but haven’t. This place is right down the street and I make regular visits for some damn fine BBQ (and yummy corn bread) and a nice (excellent for the area) choice of rotating taps which always includes a local St George, plus quality pulls like Stone, Lagunitas, Rogue, Allagash, Dogfish Head, Brooklyn, etc. Also a location in Hampton, but this one is better.“

“As far as drinks are concerned, the beer selection is pretty good for a place that doesn’t tout themselves as a microbrew bar. There are atleast 10 really good microbrews on tap. The wait staff was very attentive to our needs. The ambience was great, kind of a like a hunting lodge with hard wood pillars and tables. The place was clean, but there were gnats flying around over our food, which was quite annoying. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich. The brisket was cut pretty thick, which would have been welcomed if the brisket was tender. It was so tough, that the bun fell apart because I was pulling on the sandwich to take a bite. The brisket was also flavorless, something that you don’t expect, especially since the place claimed to have smoked it for 14 hours. I also had the potato salad, which was incredible! My wife had the pulled pork platter. The pork, much like the brisket, was also bland. County Grill has a good selection of different bbq sauces on the table and you’ll need them to provide flavor for your meal. Lastly the bathroom looked like a gas station bathroom rather than a clean restaurant bathroom. With all that being said, I probably wouldn’t eat here again, but I believe that it’s a good place to pop in for a good microbrew.“

“Great place to have a meal and enjoy a non-macro beer. The food is barbecue/southern style but is always rated as the top place in the area to get barbecue. They have six different styles of barbecue sauce for the meat as well. The beer selection is usually good - I have had Dominion Oak Barrel Stout, DFH Aprihop, Newport Storm Blizzard Porter, Brooklyn Porter, Smuttynose Robust Porter, and Tuppers Hop Pocket Ale among others and local beers (Williamsburg and St. George) while here. They typically have 12 or more taps, though one or two will be macro stuff. Service is usually very good, though there have been some times it has been lacking. Worth going to especially if you dig BBQ.“
