“Nice small place in a small town in West Virginia. Friendly people, though visited in early days of COVID so it was still a little strange -- take out only at the time. 10 beers on tap but they were only doing crowlers and growlers. Some cans of their anniversary beer. Would like to go back when it's more open.“

“A tiny brewery (really a glorified hmebrew operation) in hostel and homebrew supply store. Conveniently located just two blocks from the Elkins Depot, it made for a good stop after a train trip to the High Falls of the Cheat River. They had about 20 beers on tap, 12 of which were brewed here, along with 8 guest taps. The beers were mostly decent, none really great.“

“Small, comfortable little tap room, rustic with lots of wood. Not a ton of variety, but the beers were all good. I really enjoyed our visit. I'd been enjoying their beer for a while around WV and it was good to drink a few at the source.“

“Only got to pop in for a pint, but seems like a cool place. Small with just the main bar and a couple tables. It was mostly standard offerings - the ipa and dipa were both good. Staff were friendly. Seemed like a local hangout.“

“On the street free parking. Place was supposed to open at 2pm the owner/brewer was around 25mins late. They have four samples for $7 which is pretty going rate. Most beers were average with a couple nice ones. I think they had 20 taps, half of which were house. Lots of beers to try when I went.“

Lynns Self Serve (Beer Store)

“Part of a gas station with a fair amount of parking. Service is typical gas station/pick up store. Selection was higher end for a gas station and they had a growler station. Pricing was good. I wouldn’t go out of my way to much.“

“Parking on the side. Industrial decor, block building wit C-shaped bar. Service is pretty good. Two beersI had not tried. Prices are quite good. No Wifi for the public. They don’t update their paper menu often, so ask if they have something not on the beer menu. I would come back if they had something I have not tried.“

“A former gas station, with all the ambiance of a dirty convenience store. Decent selection, particularly for the area. Prices are reasonable.“

“Same as Buckhannon location. Monster food menu and portions. Subpar beer selection with a few locals.“

“Unassuming. Small bar area, new oak accoutrements. Friendly staff and local patrons. Limited selection but solid.“

Lynns Self Serve (Beer Store)

“Lynns is the best beer store in the area and one of the best in WV. It is just a small little gas station for the most part, but they have really grasped on to the craft beer scene and do what they can to get anything available in WV. Service is really good if Kevin is there, he knows the stock and can point out everything new. The rest of the staff are not that helpful. Selection is amazing for WV, we are just limited as to what comes into the state. If is is available in WV Lynns probably has it or will get it. Value is good overall but my biggest complaint is that nothing is priced. You never know until you get to the register if the bomber you picked up is going to be $4 or $18. I truly would buy more beer if I knew the prices. Instead I am usually conservative as to not overwhelm myself at the register. Really good store and really good service to help us get so many good beers in Elkins.“

Beanders (Bar)

“Surprised to see this place here, went here a couple years ago. On the street parking, but I walked from my hotel to this place. On the same block as CJ Maggies, more of a bar than CJ Maggie’s. Lots of wood, the floors, the tables, the bar, the chairs, and even half way up the wall. The place is kind of split in half. I had dinner on the left half. My burger was not as good as CJ Maggies. Service was not bad. When I was here there were all macros on tap, not even some random WV beers. The one surprise when I was here was the number of bottles available, although they all were macros. However, the only thing available that I hadn’t tried before was bud platinum, awful beer by the way. If I was here for the week I might go here one night for dinner, but otherwise would pass.“

“This place is right on the main street, such as it is, of Elkins. It’s rustic appearance is enhanced by the brown paper malt sacks tacked to the walls, which give the taproom almost an unfinished look. There’s basically a large bar, some tables and two TVs. I visited on a very slow Sunday right after a very busy pre-Thanksgiving, so they were out of all their seasonals. The four flagships were very tasty, though, and my favorite was the porter. And for $3.75 a pint, tax included, you can’t beat the price. It would be nice, though, if they had a few different beers other than the standard four.“

Beanders (Bar)

“Stopped in on a Wednesday night. Street parking only. While at Big Timber, this place was recommended as having better food and better beer selection than CJ Maggies. I didn’t try the food, but the beer selection was not better than CJ Maggies the night I was there. They had Southern Tier 2XIPA on draft, and the rest were macros. Maybe I just hit on a bad night. I trust the locals know what they are talking about. The ambiance was similar to a sports pub with bars on two sides of the building. Lots of woodwork. I would probably come back if in town.“

“Stopped in here on the way to my hotel. It looks like a gas station/ghetto liquor store mix. The beer selection is small, maybe 50 different beers to choose from. I did like that most of the beers in 4/6 packs were also available as singles. They had maybe 10 large format bottles. I was able to find an unrated Bridge Brew Works bottle, so I grabbed that, but unfortunately I had already had the rest of their stock. The price was very good, especially for a BBW beer. It was only $4. If ever I am in the area again, I will stop in.“

“Stopped in on a Wednesday evening for dinner after hitting up Big Timber. The bar is separated from the restaurant side of the building. The bar had about half of their taps dedicated to West Virginia beers. That was nice. Unfortunately I didn’t get any new ticks, but I did enjoy a couple pints of Morgantown Zack Morgan IPA. The food menu is daunting. I bet there is well over 100 things to choose from. I ordered the pig wings, which turned out to be more of a deep fried pork meatball with your choice of wing sauce. Their spiciest sauce, chipotle, was mild at best. It tasted decent at least and got some food in my stomach. The prices were reasonable. A couple beers and a plate of meatballs were around $20.“

“Stopped in here on a Wednesday evening shortly after they opened. I walked from my hotel, but for parking, the street and a parking lot next to the building can be used when the business that owns it is closed. The building is somewhat small, but it seemed more than sufficient. The bar had probably 15 sheets. There was a small crowd in here during my visit and multiple people stopped in for growler fills. Good to see the locals supporting their new brewery! They had 7 beers on tap with room for a few more. 4 regulars and 3 seasonal or specials. The girl behind the bar was very knowledgeable about their beers and was nice to talk beer in general with. She poured me samples of all their beers and was quick to get me a full pour of my favorite. Prices were very good. I was able to enjoy all their beers and get a coaster and a sticker for around $20 tip included. I will definitely be back. This place has great potential.“

“In the middle of town on the main thoroughfare for restaurant and bars, easy small town USA on the street parking. Atmosphere is very similar to the other C.J. Maggie’s, old wood lots of vintage decor. Good portions and quality food. A few WV beers to be had on draft. I try to come here ever time I come to Elkins. Big Timber is in town so even more reason to visit Elkins, WV.“

“Very centrally located, on Third Street and Davis, in a small town smack in the middle of the ski resorts. I would say it’s just like the Buckhannon location, but I haven’t been there yet, so how should I know? I’ll find out tomorrow. Street parking is easy to find. Surrounded by restaurants and bars, this was the only place that had people in it at noon on a Friday, in fact it was almost full. Fortunately it’s a large place, split in two by a wall down the middle. Which was also lucky, since there was a screaming baby, and staff wisely sat everyone on the opposit side. We had a few of the wood burning pizza oven. Staff was extremely friendly. Small but decent list included no less than four WV beers on draft, and a couple more in bottles. Food was very tasty and fresh. Portions are enormous, so you might as well ask for a to go box when you order, you’re gonna need it.“
