“Very good location, good food, around 40 beers on tap, young and loud crowd, local selections available. The place was full on a Saturday night. The bartenders were very enthusiastic about their cocktails, and a bit snobbish but the place was fine.“

“(Visited 03/2015): Simmzy’s is located in the heart of Manhattan Beach a few blocks from the pier on Manhattan Beach Blvd. Street parking and pay garages are nearby.

The exterior is open on the street side, serving as a patio of sorts. Inside a narrow passageway opens to the bar on the right side with some additional seating beyond. There are a couple of chalkboards listing the beers on tap, and the tap handles are visible against a backsplash made of pennies. Wooden ceilings and hanging growler-lights.

Simmzy’s has over 20 beers on tap from breweries like Russian River, Ballast Point, Golden Road and Ninkasi.

Service at the bar on a weekday evening was good despite being very busy.

This place is known for their burgers and the one I had for dinner was enjoyable.

Overall this is a fun place to visit in MB with good food and a solid beer list.“

“Went with some co-workers while on a business trip. The service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable and made solid recommendations when asked. I had the halibut tacos which were excellent. I’d eat them every week if I could! I had a Habanero Sculpin and Golden Road Better Weather DIPA on draft and then finished with a bottle of Pliny the Elder. All in all a great evening at a way-better-than-average beer bar that’s only a block off the beach. What more can you ask for? “

“Large fancied grocery store. Like a lot of the Whole Foods locations, the selection is decent, but not mind blowing. Largely local SoCal breweries with some of the more common Belgian, German, and UK imports. Pretty decent whiskey selection. Prices are about average, maybe a tick higher (again, like Whole Foods). Not bad if you happen to be nearby, but don’t go out of your way. Service is very friendly and helpful.“

“Visited July 2012 on RBSG eve.

It’s obvious that you’re in a beach town when you see the small two story buildings all crammed together and surrounded by people in flip flops and fancy clothes. That doesn’t detract from the quality of the place though. The service may have been a bit slow but the tap line up was pretty good and they had both some really local stuff as well as some of the nationally distributed stuff. I got to try the Sam Adams Sahti as well as the Strand batch 100. We didnt eat anything but it looks like a nice place to have a meal, especially sitting outside on the patio.“

“Nice amount of taps (though some quite foul stuff) and decent prices. Didn’t try the food. Big plus for Blind Pig on tap.“

“Cool little place not far from the water. Nice tap list, mostly local stuff, but a few imports and other US craft beers. Prices aren’t bad for the beach cities. Food looked good, but didn’t have any. Burgers seemed to be a popular choice. Bar staff was fairly accommodating and friendly. I would recommend sitting out on the patio area if possible.“

“Nothing too mindblowing selection-wise, but you really can’t be too mad at a bar that serves a gigantic pour of La Folie for only 7 bucks. IIRC Sculpin was only about 6 a pint, as well. Great value, and they certainly get some great beers.“

“A nice chain beer store that looks like the other BevMo’s. That said, the staff is super friendly and helpful. The prices are good with some nice specials, and the selection focuses on California beers.“

“Just a few steps from the pier. Selections good overall, but the drafts were a little dissapointing. Bottles are better, where they normally have some good sours and Pliny the Elder. Food is pretty solid as well.“

“A typical BevMo!. nice selection of california brews but they only carry a few bottles of the bruery and bootleggers. Most of the time they tend to get the special releases from stone, alesmith, firestone, deschutes, etc.. But a few times they wont. But I dont know sometimes this place runs weird, firestone 14 was on its shelves likes 6 months after its release. I didnt see that in Torrance which had it on its shelves like a month after its release. Beers here seems to move here pretty quick, which is good. I stop when Im aroud the area.“

“Solid beer bar located just a few blocks from the beach that’s definitely the best place to grab a brew in Manhattan Beach. The highlight for me was getting to try Victory At Sea on tap.“

“Ok- The place is now named, "Brewco." It’s not in the same realm as the old Manhattan beach brewing company. It’s been remodeled, has new owners (same owners as "Rockfish" restaurant next door and "rock ’n brew" restaurant in El Segundo) and they’ve canned the old "on premises" brewing model for having over 25 taps of world-class regional and world craft brew (and additional 10 taps of rotating special brews). Food is consistently good as well as service. The menu is quite varied and has daily specials as well. A seat near the window provides ocean views. The place on weekends can get quite busy. I’ve been there a couple dozen times already and have sampled everything from their version of the "office burger" to the "filet mignon chilie" to the "blackened salmon" (which is superb). This is a solid restaurant with a phenominal on-tap and bottled beer selection.“

“Seemed like a bad BevMo, I felt like my experience at another was better. Beer selection was good for Califonia stuff, pretty bland for everything else. The bourbon selection sucked, the scotch selection sucked, the prices were more than I expected since this is a big chain. Still I bought a few things with little help from staff after asking about Lagavulin and getting a "laga-who-lin" reply from the young guy working.“

“A nice small place on MB. The selection is nice. They have 20 or so taps with a nice variety of common ales. I had a Duvel Green and my wife had a Chimay Blue. Both of us had burgers which were really good. It is tiny and a little loud at times, but definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.“

“A tiny spot right in the middle of downtown Manhattan Beach. You will be put on a waiting list if you’re there to each, but it’s worth the wait. The menu is pretty limited but they have great burgers and sandwiches and their blue cheese fries are unreal. The beer selection isn’t huge but it boasts some great brews. They have a respectable wine selection as well.“

“This place is NOT a brewpub anymore which from the old ratings is a great thing. 48 taps with pretty much all of them being of quality nothing super rare but all solid beers. I had a Ballast Point IIPA, my g/f had a local red wine that was also very good. Food was great I had a shrimp & scallop enchilada with killer rice and black beans. My g/f had a shrimp po boy that rocked also. This was a great place and was just a complete shock after reading these reviews. About 100 feet from the beach and pier which is great also. Prices were reasonable and service was perfect. There is nothing bad I can say about the experience, I had a really good time and would highly recommend this place.“

“simmzys is about 3 miles from the house so i’ve been there a few times ; ) a beautiful location (with some partial ocean views from the patio) on manhattan beach blvd right next to highland. pretty interior but small indoor/outdoor area. it gets crowded quickly. a small bar near the entrance which is parked directly in front of 25 taps which are rotational. on last visit, they had a nice line-up of: old viscosity, stone 13th, hophead red, old rasputin, chimay, among others. menu is sparce with some odd offerings but the burger is good. service was decent. beer is a bit more expensive here due to it’s manhattan beach location. pints of higher octane rating ales can be as steep as $9.00 a pint. always nice to see a more beercentric plave open up, though.“

“Great place to grab a beer if you’re in the South Bay area and want a change of pace from Naja’s. Located in the heart of downtown MB, right east of the pier. Food is great - I had the burger ... beers are fairly "standard" micros. Ya know, your Bear Republic, Green Flash, Allagash, North Coast type offerings. Only knock is it’s a little crowded, so be prepared to stand or wait a few for a table.“

“(Visited 02/2008): MBB is located about 15 minutes from LAX on Manhattan Beach Blvd, a couple blocks off Sepulveda. There is metered parking all around, and you can see the Pacific from their front door. The interior is cozy and narrow, with table seating on the left and the bar on the right. Lots of wood and brick, and the brewing tanks are just a couple feet away from the bar seats. The beer selection is pretty standard. There are six draughts and they run from Blonde to Porter, with one of the beers being a seasonal. All of the beers are average to above average. A sampler is available for all available beers for $6. They also have some bottles in a cooler behind the bar. Nothing too noteworthy there other than Chimay or Sierra Nevada. Service here was good on a late Wednesday afternoon. The bartender knew the beers and told me a little about the brewer. I did not try any food on this visit. I doubt I would make a special trip again to go here but luckily there are a couple other brewopubs along Sepulveda, including Manhattan’s sister site Redondo Beach Brewing.“

“This is a nice looking place with the brewing tanks directly behind the bar. The bar was long enough and it looked like they had good food, but I don’t know since I didn’t try it. The bartender wasn’t very friendly, maybe he was worn out from the lunch rush. Beers are ok, but its a nice place in a trendy little beach town atmosphere.“

“Visited March 2008. Small narrow place exposed brick, stainless holding tanks right behind the bar. Service is typical for a crowded beach area. 6 house taps. 23 assorted bottles, no real highlights. Parking on street and for beach. Busy beach crowd and locals. Food was solid. “

“Visited at 2:00pm on Monday, 01/07/08. Decor is dark wood and brass and flat screen TVs showing FSN and ESPN. Booths are comfortable, bar has nice look. Service was reasonably fast and accurate. Wish they had more and better beers, but I guess I’m just spoiled. The food was pretty good but somewhat pricey: I had the BBQ salmon with fries and steamed veggies and ate every bite. Dessert menu has two items, neither of which sounded appealing to me and my friend. Not quite good enough as a restaurant to justify the prices and not good enough as a brewery to justify going for the beer. Still, I’d rather that they exist than not.“

“This is a small brewpub with a long bar overlooking the beer tanks, and some booth seating, located just down from the beautiful pier and Pacific Ocean. Parking is at meters or paid lots. Their own beers, a guest tap, and a dozen bottles including B-M-C, and a few goodies such as Chimay red. Smallish place overall, but cozy. Beers range from O.K. to quite good. Food is pub fare and some fresh fish dishes of high quality. Good halibut, mac and cheese, soups, etc.“
