“Another industrial location, but this is larger than Hop Secret, with TV's, Monday night football, couches and tables. 8 beers on tap, with a flight of all 8 available; of course that is what i did. Service was friendly, bathrooms clean. Beer quality was not great; they had one solid experimental IPA, but the rest was pretty Meh.“

“This is a small little place in an industrial park. Small bar with about 3 people inside when I showed up at 9PM on Monday. Friendly service. Flights available, or you can just buy the beers in 5 oz sizes. Beer quality ranged a lot, but there were decent ones in the mix. Looks like I am the first Rawtebeerian to actually rate their beers.“

“La vibe générale est très californienne avec la convivialité qui vient avec. Tout est très relax et intime ici. La bière n’est malheureusement pas mémorable.“

“Another stop on my brewery tour of SoCal with t0rinbro! I was half expecting to hate this place based on the reviews so far, but while not good, it certainly wasn’t the worst place I’ve been to. It’s definitely a warehouse production brewery with a tiny space in a roll up industrial setting… I dig these kind of places actually. They have a small tasting bar with some fold up tables and chairs in a room to the side with a "view" of the brewing equipment. It seems like they’re operating on a shoe-strings kind of budget, but Bobby said that they used to be fermenting in plastic tubs. It looks like they’ve upgraded to SS fermentors now, which is a positive step. The service was friendly and enthusiastic. The beers were meh at best… a couple were really bad and one or two were palatable. They get points for being creative and doing interesting styles, but maybe they should focus more on making good beer first… I don’t know. Overall, I was kind of glad we stopped by, but I wouldn’t go out of my way even for a little bit unless you love visiting mediocre start up breweries.“

“Small business park brewery and tasting room. There is a tiny little bar to order at when you first walk in and then some tables to sit at in the back/brewhouse area. Friendly service with one of the owners and brewers serving the beers. They had 8 beers on tap and the flight of all 8 was about $16. The quality of the beers is quite poor...and you can see why when looking at the fermenters and equipment sitting in the back. Almost every beer had a pretty impressive display of flaws and off-flavors. I don’t think I’ll be back.“

“Stopped here to meet up with some friends. Large open floor plan with lots of tables and a decent sized bar. TVs everywhere for sports watching. Service was good and quick. Food is the same pub food that’s available at the others--burgers, sandwiches, fries, etc. Tap list is extensive, but it’s mostly standard offerings from big/popular breweries like Stone, Deschutes, Rogue, Coors, and a few of your basic German imports like Franziskaner and Weheinstephaner. It’s alright for a place to have a beer and a burger while you’re watching a football game or something, but not a great beer place.“

Another warehouse brewery. It seems that these guys are a group of friends that started a brewery, and from the looks of it built it themselves. I was dissapointed but not surprised to see a bunch of plastic fermenters bubbling away with no climate control. They assured me that they only do the beers that don’t need temperature controlling like this (lol) and do the rest in the steel 3 bbl tanks that are cooled. By "cooled" I mean they do in fact have a glycol system but what they’ve done is wrap copper coils around the outside of the tanks and then wrap some insulating blankets around that.

The quality of the beer reflects the quality of the equipment. These may be good recipes for all I know but the fermentation is so bad that most of the beers have some off flavors. The mango IPA was extremely dry, a little peppery, and while it did have some mango in it there wasn’t much going on. The nut brown had some apple flavor. The agave wheat with sour cherries was dry, acidic, tasted a lot like grapefruit, and had some sulfur in it. About the only one I’d consider ordering again was the hefe but that may because the banana flavor covered up the off flavors.

The people were of course nice and willing to talk about their beer but I can’t see myself spending any time here if I have to drink said beer. Prices were a little high too, but not too bad. To try all 9 beers was $17 plus tip. Now, if you do find a beer that you like, or if they get the fermentation thing figured out they have some picnic benches and a tv on the wall. Someone call me when the beer gets better.“

In 5 years of driving right by Monrovia on the way to/from Stuffed Sandwich I never thought to stop in this area and check out some of the places that have been around for ever, and some of the newer places like this. I’m so glad that I finally did though. These guys are legit. Tilquin Quetsche, 3 Fonteinen Intense Red Kriek and Golden Blend Gueuze, various Fantomes, Oude Beersel, and plenty of AleSmith. What the hell, in Monrovia, really? All in all there is only one aisle of beer (with a split in the middle so maybe that’s two aisles?) and some fridges. Maybe this is just a diamond in the rough that nobody knows about but I will keep coming back. Prices are pretty average over all and good in some cases. Not sure if $18 for an intense Red is good or not.“

This is a quick walk up from T Phillips so you can kill two birds with one stone. I chose to eat at T Phillips before walking over but in retrospect maybe I should have eaten here instead. Certainly the beer list is a bit better there. They have about 20 taps and they let you do a sampler (3 beers of your choice) but most of what they have is the big name stuff. Lagunitas, Chimay, Stone, Dogfish Head, Bruery, etc. Not complaining about those but it would be nice to mix in a few more eclectic choices (though they also have multiple Craftsman taps). I didn’t even think to ask if they have a bottle list but on the way out I did see a table splitting a bottle of Chimay White. It was a bit noisy and dark for me at the moment but I could see hanging out here if I was in Monrovia for any period of time.“

Another hidden gem in Monrovia. Outside they have a big banner advertising some of the brands they carry like Firestone, Bruery, and Russian River. Not quite as awesome as Certified Market but pretty good all the same. They have half a dozen fridges filled with beer and a shelf. I saw the last couple of Stone collaboration releases and some Logsdon as well as a nunmber of IPAs including the Melrose from Beachwood. I only ended up picking up a Melrose, two of the SoCal Brewing beers, and a pack of batteries but if I’m in the area I’ll keep this place in mind.“

Finally visited the third T Phillips location. This one is about where the La Verne location was a year in terms of beer selection. They’re starting to give a crap now. They still have 70ish taps consisting of mostly crap but they also had Enjoy By along with half a dozen other Stone taps, a couple of Hangar 24 taps, a couple of Goose Island taps, and a couple Lagunitas taps. The room is large and open, the music was pretty loud, and they have the same menu that the other locations do. I got a bacon guacamole burger ordered medium rare that actually came out medium. I was impressed since the other spots always just cook everything well done no matter what you ask for. The portions are fairly large, way too much for one meal for any non-obese person. I don’t go to Monrovia often, in fact this may have been the first time I ever actually stopped anywhere in the town, but this little stretch of Myrtle is kind of a cool spot, with London Gastropub next door and all.“

“Great place with awesome selections. Anthony the beer purchaser as well as co-owner is a stand up guy who treats his customers with much respect. He makes every attempt to attain the beers in demand for his customers. Top notch store. One of my top 10 places to purchase beer in southern california. Prices are more than reasonable. Swing by this place and you will see what i am talking about.“

“Ambiance: Dimly lit, high ceilings, lots of chatter, chill music, tvs playing sports. Nothing like a English pub at all.

Service: Unfortunately, the young lady serving us knew nothing about the beers she was pouring.

Selection: Again, nary a beer on tap from the UK, with the exception of Boddingtons. A little misleading. I’d rather have fresh locals any day, but some folks looking for a London experience will be dissapointed.

Food: I didn’t eat there, but the gigantic plates they were serving did look good I intend to go back and try some.

Value: The draft beer was overpriced, especially for it being Old Towne Monrovia. Old Towne Monrovia wants to be upity like Old Town Pasadena, but they simply aren’t. $7.00 for a local pint and $9 for a Belgian in an oversized schooner is just unsettling to me.

Overall: The place is new, I like the vibe and hope they work out the little kinks, and bring some good craft beer to a region of LA that needs it.“

“Ambiance: The place is a well lit family-ish joint. Service: The bar tenders don’t know craft beer. Selection:Ton’s of macro faux craft beers, but a few decent local crafts. Food: Decent enough appetizers. Value: A bit pricy for the beer. Overall: A place to check out if you are in Monrovia, but no where near a decent beer bar.“

“Completely hidden from Google, This site, and other sites. My buddy found this place by accident. The place is like any other Los Angeles Liquor store, only this place has about 6 doors of good to great beer. Stone, Port Brewing, The Bruery, Anderson Valley, various Belgians, Firestone Walker, English Imports. The gentleman behind the counter didn’t seem chatty, but he knew he was selling good beer, which is good. The prices were cheaper than Santa Anita Wines and Spirits, and on par with Whole Foods and Bevmo and Lone Hill for pricing. I’d advise anyone in the Arcadia,Monrovia, Duarte area to give this place a shot.“
