“Typical Whole Foods: clean, beautiful, excellent food selection. Higher prices. Beer selection is wanting. All 4packs or large bottles. Heavily weighted to large microbreweries and Belgians.“

“Typical Trader Joe’s. Pretty good prices and an interesting selection of foods. Nice single can selection of maybe 20beers. Mostly CA breweries. Great single prices.“

“Nice hidden bottle shop and taproom. I was expecting it to be loaded with To Ol beers, but I didn’t see any obvious ones. The tap list has about 18 beers, mostly locals, including some sours and Belgian beers. Several large refrigerators with beers to go, or consume onsite. I see some of my favorite Belgians from 25years ago. Really nice vibe. Easy parking.“

“12 beers on tap. 2 seltzers, 2 pog. The rest are mostly hazies. Very crowded for a Monday night, because of a 50th birthday party. Pretty fun place. Beer rotation is slow, as I have tried most of these beers. I like it overall however.“

“Very good beer spot deep in the east side of the Bay (right in downtown Walnut Creek, by the BART station). Around 20 drafts - solid mix of good domestic and classic foreign. Nothing you won't find if you look hard but a nice thoughtful mix. Bottles skew a bit foreign (Euro) but there's some good stuff in there whatever your craving. gg Think Gourmet Haus in Redwood City and Ale Arsenal in San Carlos get a bit better stuff on draft and in bottle from what I've seen but if this were my go-to place, I would be very happy. Well worth a stop.“

“Third stop of the day. The new taproom is in an industrial space, but is pretty open, with a bunch of out-door seating, mostly picnic style, likely nearly always a food truck on premises. Inside is fairly open with a bar for ordering, a cooler for bottles to go, and more tables. Kind of dark inside, but otherwise a nice place. I forgot how many beers they had on top, but it was at least 10, including most of the core lineup and some special beers. They offered flights; the papers were pre-filled out for six beers, but they charge per sample, so you can pretty much get what you want. At this point I was getting picky so I chose four. I was honestly pretty disappointed in them all; I have had reasonably good luck with CaliCraft previously so it was a surprise, but nothing really popped. The IPA’s had some vegetal notes, one was pretty buttery, the sour was harsh and acetic.“

“Right after opening is good - the line to the bar can get long later. I had the chance to talk to the servitor for some time. Besides brewing sours at Hermitage, they brew some of the higher volume brews at Gordon Biersch. Some of the "better" beers may be available in bottles in the small cooler, if not on tap. GPS highly recommended. I think it’s a great place. Wood fired pizza oven truck while I was there.“

“Visited on a Saturday night. I wouldn’t call this an industrial park tasting room....it’s more of a business park actually, and a pretty large one at that. You have to keep your eyes out or you’ll drive right by considering Calicraft is all the way at the back with minimal signage on the street. The nice thing was they had literally acres of available parking since it was Saturday. I’m wondering if it gets tougher during business hours. Anyway, this was a pretty standard tasting room set up with a bar near the entrance just for ordering, and several communal tables for enjoying your beer. They even had a bunch of canopies set up outside on the front lawn with more chairs for extra space. Kind of nice, I guess. They serve flights, pints and fill growlers. The only slightly annoying thing was they serve their flights in those tiny little glasses and fill them all the way to the brim...not good for rating. Will more breweries please just serve my tasters in normal glasses so I can actually smell the beer without dipping my nose in the liquid? T. Hanks. The service was Ok. Not super friendly, but they were busy. Speaking of that, there were a lot of friendly (drunk) locals who weren’t afraid to strike up a conversation. The beers were pretty decent. A few I would order again, but nothing really overwhelmed me. They did have a number of new ticks for me even though Calicraft has been around for a several years. Overall, I’m glad these guys finally have a legit tasting room. Not that I’ll be coming here too often, but it’s nice to know it’s here. They make decent beers with an occasional really good one. Cheers.“

“A great place for beer geeks and beer newbies alike. Staff is super friendly and and they definitely know a thing or two and will help you find something you will enjoy. Best of all, they are really passionate about the beer, so you know they’re not just feeding you some crap to sell you something they don’t like. The bottle selection is extensive and spans everything from IPA to lambic. Atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, a great place to meet up with friends and chat. Definitely worth checking out even if you don’t live in Walnut Creek.“

“A store with a reasonable selection of interesting beers at decent prices. Being a grocery store, you can’t expect much personal service or advice, but I guess most beer geeks will know what to get.“

“Very interesting bar/bottle shop in Walnut Creek. Very good taplist, and they do tasting flights - four 4 oz pours for $16. Not cheap, but its a good way to try some interesting beers. The bottle shop portion is small but dense. The bottles all have two prices; one for drink there and one for carry home. The take out prices are good, not great, and the selection is pretty interesting, with a lot of good beers but few whales. They did have three Cantillons on the shelves when I was there, including about 10 bottles of Mamouche, but they are priced very high ($70 for Mamouche) and have no reduction for carry out. All in all a pretty good place.“

“Great place to drink great beer. They have 18 beers on tap that change periodically and Litetally hundreds of beers to sample in bottles, some on the shelf and some in the fridge. The bartenders are very friendly and knowledgable about beer. The customers who go there are also very friendly. You have to go!“

“ØL is clearly one for the best beer bars in California if not the US. This place stands far ahead of most everything, exceptional selection and quality draft and bottles. Small but so is Walnut Creek. The bartenders know their shit. Nice clean comfortable place too.“

“This cozy beer place is located on a side street in downtown Walnut Creek. There is a nice bar in the back with a few stools facing a wall of 18 taps dispensing good beers, including Belgian, American craft and local beers. There are several tables near the front door, but all service is at the bar. There is a also a fairly extensive bottle shop with some good finds. Check it out - it’s worth the drive.“

“Stopped in a few days ago and was impressed. The build out was excellent. High Ceilings, big front area with tables and a eight-seater bar in the back Good selection of bottled beers available both refrigerated and not. 10 Taps of nice variety (mostly Belgian). Friendly staff and crowd. Its great to see beer bars like this popping up in the ’burbs. Prices seemed a little on the high side (esp the $5 markup for consuming bottles on-site) but definitely was excited to be there. I didn’t try any food (limited snack-type menu) Nice Work. “

“I stopped here yesterday to see what this place is all about. When you walk in, it almost has a monastic feel with high ceilings and wooden picnic tables. Lots of echoes and noise. As you amber back, there is a little alcove to the right with some selected room temperature bottles, which favor Belgian and Scandanavian beers. There are some typical American brews, too from Stone, RR, Bruery, etc. Beyond the alcove is a bar that seats maybe 8 people. There are about 15 beers on tap, and the selection is diverse, but nothing especially mind-blowing. They do have some stuff you see in bottles, but not typically on tap, though. Behind the bar, there are several cooler doors with appropriate lighting full of some very interesting and hard to find beers. A big pet-peeve of mine is that these bottled beers cost about 4-5$ more if you choose to consume it on premises. They also have some simple cheese plates and olive plates, etc. I did not try any of those. Nonetheless, a decent place to have a brew, and the influence from The Trappist is apparent here.“

“I visited this place on an early Friday afternoon and there was already some thirsty patrons filtering in. First of all, the location is nice in downtown Walnut Creek. It’s a bit ritzy for my taste, but it’s reasonably close to BART and other public transit so that’s nice. Obviously modeled after the Trappist in Oakland (same owners) it has a very Euro cafe feel with lots of wood and a nice seating area as you walk in with some shelves for bottles. The bar is in the back with only about 8 seats. There are some coolers near the bar that screamed "beer geek" with thermometers inside controlling it to cellar temps and tinted glass to keep out light. Very nice touch. The prices on the bottles were marked for both take out and on site consumption. Most bottles were about 50% more if you wanted to drink on site, but they were surprisingly reasonable for take out considering its in Walnut Creek. They had some rare Cantillon bottles on the shelves that tempted me despite the high prices. The tap list was very good. It skewed Belgian (like the Trappist) but also had some nice local brews. I had an 07 Iris. The barstaff was knowledgable and friendly. I will definitely return often.“

“A typical BevMo. Nice selecetion. A good range of cold bottles. I have never had anyone come up to me and ask if they could help me find something like I do most of the time in my local small store.“

“A nice selection of beers in the cooler and on the shelves. Plenty of local and imported beers. A lot of singles as well as six/twelve packs and kegs. This is a must stop location whenever I’m in the Bay Area.“

“good selection. really, really retardedly busy parking lot and store. not a place to go get beer, but after the time you waste getting in here to get food you will be happy to see they have some suitable brews, since you have now wasted your allotted time to go to the beer store afterwards.“
