74 /100 Pub L’Escale (Bar) 132, RUE DE VESLE 11 taps, 7 belgian, the other ones craft like Fauve, Pophin, Senses Brewing. In the back there,s plenty outside seating. |
82 /100 Mille et Une Bières (Beer Store) 12 RUE NICOLAS APPERT (TINQUEUX) Surprisingly good selection in the heart of Champagne. A ton of Belgian beers, and not just the more popular ones either. Beers from the US, holland, Ireland, the U.K., Italy also represented, as well as French beers of course. Among the labels I saw: de Struise, Mikkeler, T Ol, Brew Dog, Brewfist, and Boon. Friendly and helpful staff too. Higher priced than Belgian stores, but that seems typical for France. |
64 /100 73 PLACE DROUET D'ERLON Certainly one of better brewpubs of this anniversary-celebrating French chain. We frequented this place repeatedly in June 2016 and depending on actual shift, the quality of service varried tremendously - from a merry and quick to totaly chaotic and "I do not see you." approach, The food was always very good, house beers ranged from very good La Brune to hardly drinkable La Blonde. Two months specials (cherry beer and a lime ale or so) were just not necessary to bother with. All in all, a chain brewpub with all its pros and cons and a better option in a town that has more to offer in other beverages. |
50 /100 73 PLACE DROUET D'ERLON Despite being part of the chain, this one is pretty nice. All beers are ok - there are no weak points. |
94 /100 La Maison de la Bière (Beer Store) 5 RUE DU DOCTEUR ROBERT CREUSAT, ZONE ACTIPÔLE DE LA NEUVILLETTE Huge shop in the Neuvillette industrial estate of Reims. Not too far from the A26 motorway, lots of shops nearby, including E.Leclerc and Cora superstores. I’ve never ever seen a beer shop like this: supermarket size and it’s all beer. Very impressive selection of local beer and French beer in general. All the local breweries featured, plus more French from all over the country. Also lots of Belgian, German, USA, Canadian stuff..... overwhelming selection. Friendly staff, convenient location with lots of parking, incredible selection - I will definitely return! |
76 /100 Pub L’Escale (Bar) 132, RUE DE VESLE Located on a busy roas leading to the very centre of Reims, this pub is a goodnplace to stop by when visiting the city. It has a long wooden bar in the first room / parlour, and then expands into a more regular drinking hall. The selection is really good compared to what I have seen elsewhere in town. There are 11 taps with some well-known Belgians and many more of those are sold per bottle. Non-Belgian beers are reduced to the absolute minimum. These are served in proper glassware. The staff are friendly and polite. Not cheap but nice and local. I will come back here if in Reims again. |
74 /100 The Sherlock Pub (Bar) PLACE DROUET D’ERLON Located in the busy pedestrian lane of Reims, this pub-and-restaurant, despite its plain English name, is the place to go to if you are feeling like going (back) to Belgium but do not have the possibility of doing this. The first part of the interior is basically a long bar with a row of comfortable benches and small tables along it, leaving a narrow passage for the staff and the hungry or thirsty customer. Further it extends into a more spacious room, with dark wooden furniture and all that. Cozy. The staff are very friendly and reasonably knowledgeable about beer. The selection is better than what i have seen elsewhere in the city, or, to be more precise, on the pedestrian lane, in which most of the venues are located anyway. It includes several good Belgians, while the number of inferior French and American beers is reduced to a minimum. I haven’t tried the food, but the burgers and toast i see around me look reasonable. Not expensive. I wouæd gladly come back if I ever visit Reims again. |
30 /100 73 PLACE DROUET D'ERLON As I had never been to any of the outlets of this chain, I decided to try it out in Reims on a visit to the town. I regretted it immediately. At first sight the place is okay, spacious, not kitschy, and quite inviting. But then you will discover that no one notices you. When the waiter asked me if I wanted to dine there, he didn’t even hand me the menu when I said yes. It took a quarter of an hour for another waiter to notice me, but by then I had changed my mind, as the food I saw on the neighbouring tables looked just bland. I had a bottle of their Triple instead, which was, to put it mildly, an unrewarding experience, although judging by the listing on RB, it should be the best choice here. To give this crappy place une fleche du part, I will just say that none of the waiters cared to ask me if I wanted an ashtray when they saw me with a cigarette. Never again, not even for its relatively fair prices. |
36 /100 Cora - Reims (Grocery Store) NEUVILLETTE Stopped in here while on my honeymoon. OK for grabbing a regional or Belgian beer, but it is just a grocery store afterall. Of course, people come to Reims for the champagne. |
42 /100 Cora - Reims (Grocery Store) NEUVILLETTE French chain grocery store, with some regional beers, notably Brasseurs de Lorraine. |
70 /100 Pub L’Escale (Bar) 132, RUE DE VESLE Single female bar staff, overwhelmed by predominantly male customers. I counted maybe 60 bottles available, tpas ok. Nice vibe, if you speak French.... |
28 /100 73 PLACE DROUET D'ERLON Busy and crowded place especially in lunchtime (unfortunately we were there just at that time). The service...hell yeah!!! wasn’t slow, but rather ultra hyper mega slow and totally uncoordinated because everyone just served anyone without any proper order. We’ve waited 25 minutes to order plus 15 minutes to get our beer which were quite boring. The food looked ok, but we didn’t try it, because who knows for how long would we have to wait for it... |
64 /100 73 PLACE DROUET D'ERLON Crappy chain brewpub beer, but you can sit outside and chill. I know others might not be as kind as me, but my pizza was awesome! |
50 /100 73 PLACE DROUET D'ERLON Was here 2005/2006 (forgive the lateness, I don’t want to forget being here). Beers weren’t anything special, food was decent for the price. Catenulate wood-and-copper interior was actually bright and cheerful, sat near the windows and had a nice respite. |
70 /100 Pub L’Escale (Bar) 132, RUE DE VESLE The decor looked just like house of brews in Manhattan, it was quite uncanny...The bar was on the left side as you walk in, with a Beer fridge packed with imports, a few tables in the back, lots of breweryana hung on the walls. It was Monday, so obviously it was a slow night. The bartender/owner was quite friendly and seemed to know his Beers quite well, even though he told me he doesn’t drink, although he tastes every new brew that he adds to his list. About a dozen taps, and about a hundred bottles. Most from Belgium and Germany, a few locals and oddballs from around the world. He had a pretty solid lineup of Unibroues too. The Beers I had were within expiry dates (though one was close!), and came in the right glassware. We had dinner there, he microwaved us a croque-monsieur that wasn’t too good by French standards, yet still better than some I’ve had back home at 4 times the price. Beer prices were pretty steep though. But after I paid the tab he did give us a free shooter of chuchen (not sure of the spelling on this), a type of mead he made himself with the help of a local producer. It tasted great! A pretty decent Beer haven in wine country. |
46 /100 73 PLACE DROUET D'ERLON Four, and only 4 beers: blond, bruin (scotch), amber, and blanche. Decent food, particularly the pizza-like tarts. Decent prices. Outdoor patio when decent weather. Service is typically slow (i.e., more continental) so don't go there if you're in a hurry. Some wait staff speak English. |
64 /100 Pub L’Escale (Bar) 132, RUE DE VESLE About 6-8 rotating draughts. Over 200 bottles/cans from all over (though mostly Europe) with proper glassware. Polite service, but a local hangout. Pricy. |
