| 80 /100 Bell (Bar) THE STREET “Actually called The Bell. Slated as 14th century pub, in the county, expect low ceilings, wooden beams, a mishmash of decorations (including old local men) and (non functioning) woodfire places. Also, though, expect a small yet solid amount of real ales, a bartender who knew her brews and a younger public to go with this. The main event though is the food which is fresh, varied, colourful and Damn tasty, all the opposites of your using pub trub. Bingham, Andwell, Hopback and London breweries were on tap. All light bitter, nothing spectacular but we’ll executed and local stuff. However it’s really the excellent food that already justifies a visit.“ |

Idylic English country setting in a small village opposite the church.
The Bell dates from the 15th century and is full of wooden beams and rickety walls.
Benches out the front and a large beer garden out the back.
Dog friendly and watering facilities for your furry friends are provided.
Beer range is 5 cask ales, usually local on my visits, Triple fff, Binghams, Andwell, West Berks all spring to mind, have also seen stuff from further afield and on this visit Wood Street from Sheff had a beer on.
Service is friendly, clientele largely local with a few visitors for the general ambiance and good food (not eaten here yet but must do so).

Five frequently changing real ales, often from far afield, but Binghams and West Berks are regulars. Well regarded for its food, but the beers are also well kept and the surroundings are a welcome retreat from modern life.“ |
