“I've lived in the village a couple years now and this is a superb local pub. It's really well run by the welcoming and friendly owners. They keep 4 regular cask beers (including Broadside, Ghost Ship, Essex Boys) and 4 regularly changing casks (Crouch Vale, Nene Valley and Adnams appear regularly). Beer quality is excellent, served direct from the cask in the cellar. I've had a lot of Adnams in my time, this is as good as Ghost Ship ever gets. They don't serve food here unfortunately, but won't mind you bringing and eating your own. There's a small back garden, and inside is cosy (for a 20th Century pub, no timber frames here). A great place to go for good beer, served well, in a relaxed atmosphere.“

“I’m 44, and by entering this establishment I’ve significantly lowered the average age. There’s only a few of us in on a Tuesday evening but it’s friendly and conversation-led, with piped jazz very low in the background. The beer is excellent for a village this size: eight cask ales - nothing that will knock your socks off mind but solid stuff mostly from East Anglian breweries, and a fairly standard but large enough Belgian bottle selection. Worth the trip out of Cambridge? Yes and no, as Cambridge itself has so many good pubs, but it’s always nice to give a new place a go.“
