Beer Ambleside (Beer Store)
8 KELSICK ROAD
“Ordered from their online alter ego, Beer GB. Quite often I find that regional beershops are catering for local customers and therefore have a lot of popular craft beers but can lack in terms of local (often oldschool) breweries. This lot actually have fantastic range of Cumbrian breweries plus beers from around the UK and outside of the UK. They stock one of the Protz 300 ticks I''ve not seen elsewhere and I also ordered a selection of beers from different Cumbrian breweries and managed to avoid having to buy golds and bitters. Unity are down in Hants but they also had a few ticks I needed from them. Would ordere again. Interesting range.“

56 /100 LAKE ROAD
“Whitewashed traditional styled pub facing into a side street just of the main road where it heads south through the town centre. There's a nice front terrace area you walk through to get in the pub, which is too small for busy periods in the summer months, but it's relaxing enough inside. Greene King ales were the order of the day when I visited, and a seasonal was available alongside its regulars from this brewer.“

“Small bottle and can shop in a unit on the southern section of the main road ring for traffic around Ambleside centre. Local, regional, national and beyond available from some of the finest craft brewers of our time.“

62 /100 BORRANS ROAD, WATERHEAD BAY
“At the very Northern edge of Lake Windermere, this large freestanding modern looking pub is very popular due to its large grass area that ends at the waters edge, and is a fine place to frequent in the summer months. Food is of course served here and the bar sports quite a few real ales with some good local guest ales available.“

Ambleside Wines (Beer Store)
COMPSTON ROAD
“Terrace shop unit on the way one system that heads north around the small town of Ambleside. Sells a plethora of alcoholic drinks in a nicely laid out venue, in terms of ales it has a decent local selection available mostly in bottles. If you arrive by car you can ask for parking disc to display in your window so you don't get a ticket.“

“Agree mostly with previous review. A wide selection of local ales including some lesser found breweries. The lady who served me wasn’t a beer drinker so couldn’t advise on choice.“

60 /100 BORRANS ROAD, WATERHEAD BAY
“Beautiful setting on theatre edge of my lake. Food well executed. 6 local ales on cask plus a local lager on keg. Service is bar only unfortunately but can live with that. Definitely deserves a visit.“

“Good pub at Watrehead Bay in Ambleside. Has 6 real ales which change periodically. Also has other beers ciders on both tap and bottled. Serves food and has rooms available for B&B. Excellent outdoor seating area on the edge of Lake Windermere, hence the name.“

Ambleside Wines (Beer Store)
COMPSTON ROAD
“While this shop mainly specialises in wines and spirits, there is a small but perfectly formed selection of local Cumbrian ales. Coming from outside the area I was already familiar with Jennings and Hepworth, which are both represented here. However, it was also pleasing to find beers by Tirril, Barngates, Hawkshead and Watermill, among others. I should stress again, the range is pretty small - I’d estimate about 30 ales from about 10 breweries - but this makes the store perfect for the tourist market who want to take home a selection of local brews. Some local lagers were also included.“
