62 /100 Brown Cow (Bar) 10 GOOSE GREEN 400-year-old coach house about 15 minutes’ walk from the station. I’d heard a fair bit about this place and was fairly excited to make its acquaintance. 5 real ales on, ranging from the pointlessly ubiquitous (Hobgoblin Gold, Black Sheep) to smaller and better Northern breweries (Ulverston, Ossett). A smattering of bottles. I didn’t eat but the mixed grills look good. Not busy but steady on a Monday mid-afternoon, which is always a healthy sign. A wonderful pub carpet - a truly magnificent thing in my eyes - graces the floor beneath me. Real fire. The Brown Cow didn’t knock my socks off but it’s certainly worth a visit if you are in Dalton. |
