“At the top end of Appledore’s pseudo seafront along the river Torridge estuary which is very tidal, this pub sits slightly below the promenade on the opposite road so it doesn’t quite command the views across the inland waterway which are fine at any time of of the tide. It’s east facing too so if you’ve going to use its patio the best time for some sun is at lunchtime. Food is served here and is a popular option. Inside the bar is against the right hand wall after you enter. The lion share of seats are at the front of the building either side of the central doorway, but there’s a fair number at the rear end of the this open plan ground floor space, which is predominantly wooden in design, fixtures and furniture with a plushness. There’s a small row of cask ale pumps, which carry local Devon ales, backed up by a couple of local kegs ales and ciders too, but nothing too wild.“

70 /100 THE QUAY
“The only pub on the harbour. Seating outside. Inside the pub looks very nice and modern. Dogs are very welcome here with a supply of water and biscuits for anyone who has a dog. The beer consists of a Tribute and three constantly changing beers from local microbreweries. There is also a keg of Otter Tarka Pilsner. Nice place.“
