“Laid back ale house with a nice vibe. Dimly lit, music themed and slightly bohemian in style, it has a very pleasant enclosed garden area at the back, but unfortunately its size means it is also a smoke trap if anyone is puffing away. Several local cask ales are available and plenty of craft keg at the small bar towards the rear of the front facing shop unit room. There's a smaller back room.“

“At the end of Northcote Road, the first on the non town centre side of of the road bridge that crosses at the train station entrance. This is a brick pub with a down-to-earth look and clientele and is more of a destination for those who enjoy a period built 20th century stand alone public house than those looking for an eclectic beer range. Had two often seen ales when I visited.“

“Delightful dimly lit coffee shop and bar with food, designed to look and feel from the era of Charlie Chaplin at his hight. You get a real feel for this in the big garden at the back, with wrought iron gates and staircase up to the terrace, old posters, and everything else painted in multi-colours. I didn't make it downstairs to the cellar as it was too early in the day, but upstairs there was just one Dorset Brewery regular available, a couple of real ciders and a dozen bottle or canned options.“

“Located just by the center of Boscombe, this a a bar with some serious character! It's split into two levels, with an attractive more cafe style bar at street level and the cellar bar beneath. It's the later that you want to head to for a nice selection of cask beers and a few regular keg options. The cellar bar is oozing with character with weird features all over and stained glass style windows with the kind of colourful lighting that wouldn't look out of place in the Sagrada Família in Barcelona. Even if the weather isn't nice, be sure to check out the beer garden with some stunning features like the murial of a face taking up a whole building side wall, painted around a beard of old dead vines. The selection of casks was fun (all new ticks for me), prices were good and service was very friendly and helpful. Very quite when we visited early afternoon on New Years eve, but I can imagine this place getting busy with a younger crowd particularly with live music events. I'll definitely return next time I'm in town.“

“Another great (and supposedly the original) micro pub in the Bournemouth area. This one is a lot less basic than most in terms of decor with some strange features (look out for the Hans Solo door) and good lively atmosphere. There were 4 keg and 6 casks available when I visited, including some nice Siren and some more local stuff I had never heard of. Also 14 ciders and 4 meads. Only got to stop by for one this time, but will certainly be returning!“

“A real old fashioned traditional Bournemouth boozer with carpet on the floor and everything you want from this kind of bar. A small bar area up front with seats at the bar where the locals gather and a raised seating room at the side. It’s not really a ratebeer destination with only a couple of changing casks but a nice enough place to pop in for a beer if you’re passing by. While it was certainly a place where everyone turns around and looks when a newcomer walks in, the locals and staff were friendly. Also gave samples of the beers to try before we ordered.“
