“Visited on a Friday evening, busy with locals. The pub is an old stone built effort with a nice atmosphere, has a large beer garden over the road. 5 ales from Isle of Purbeck brewery on tap, all in decent nick. Food featured good local produce. It’s broadly £10 in a cab from Swanage and worth a look in. The brewery is in the car park.“

“Set in the picturesque locality of the Purbeck coast this pub is an excellent - and welcome - watering hole to many a walker at the end of a trip up to Old Harry’s Rocks. The pub itself is an authentic English freehouse, it’s got a large beer garden with views over Studland Bay and a small hotel above. The Isle of Purbeck Brewery is also located here and the bar will usually have at least 4-5 on tap (recently I’ve seen Jurassic Joule, Purbeck IPA, Force Four). Although not the greatest brewer their beers are quaffable especially after a stroll on a nice sunny day. The pub also hosts a beer festival in the summer (usually August) which is very enjoyable. Worth checking out if you are in the vicinity.“

“2010-07. Visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon last July, this beautiful old building is situated across the street from a huge green field that patrons can sit to eat their meals while overlooking the harbour. We tried four of their casks, two from the brewery and two guest Titanics, which were in good shape. Service was friendly enough and efficient, though not particularly chatty as it was getting busier. We ate a few ploughman’s lunches which were delicious and enormous and very filling. Touring around the area makes for a lovely visit. (5/9/9/9/9/15) 76%“

“2010-07-24. Brewery tap for Isle of Purbeck. Had about four of the Purbeck beers on and about 4-6 guest casks and taps when we visited. Characterful old English pub with rooms above. We stopped in for lunch on the large grassed patio area across the street, with views of the harbour in the distance, after a hike out to Old Harry Rocks (recommended!) Beers seemed in good shape for the most park, none were good enough to rave about but decent. Lunch offerings were mostly various iterations of ploughman’s lunches (simple but very good) and sandwiches. They had other offerings but most people seemed to opt for these. Location is probably the biggest reason to go.“
