“Feb 2023. Large but oddly cramped and very busy Spoon. Curious conversion from a cinema. Plenty of echoes of the building's past, but difficult to work out the original cinema. Long and odd journey to the toilets, utilising part of what may have been the balcony. OK selection of beers. Hmmm.“

“A JDWetherspoon (says it all). A beautifully done up ex cinema so quite large and usually busy. A nice outdoor roof patio / cancer zone overlooking the railway. Is less than 10 mins walk from Bexhill station. As is the norm these days food portions are tiny so not cheap unlike the beer!“

“A much needed alehouse in Bexhill. A 3 minute walk from station (turn right) heading downhill towards the sea. This micropub is open daily and does not close in the afternoon! Unfortunately as with most micropubs beer is from the barrel so is often flat. Usually between 5 and 7 ales on at anytime and normally includes at least 1 black beer.“

“In almost any other town a pub like this would not deserve a look in, but this is Bexhill the beer desert! Very much a locals pub. Pig&Porter Ashburnham Pale Ale and Portobello Star were on plus 2 well known brands.“

“I only added this pub as it is one of the better in this desert of a town for decent pubs. Very much a locals local in the middle of town, open daily, usually Harveys Sussex Best in good condition with 1 or sometimes 2 guest beers / seasonals.“

“A Shepherd Neame pub opposite the station. Brighter and cleaner than my last visit years ago. Just 2 handpumps though one had the Shepherd Neame seasonal, Early Bird, in good nick. They also allowed my 6 year old niece in to have a soft drink, though was quiet as was midday. [I have edited the info on this pub on the last 2 points].“

“Directly opposite the station, you can people entering and exiting it from the tables outside if you wish, although there’s little room between the front and and the main road down to the sea. Inside is a more comfortable affair with the odd worn down sofa or well used wooden furniture. This worn wooden appearance is part of its appeal although you not rave about it by any means. As a Shepherd Neame pub I was disappointed to only find Spitfire on cask, but it did have two UK contract brews of Hurlinger and Oranjeboom which are produced at the Kent premises as an alternative. Expect locals in the day and a crowd enjoying the live sport in the evening.“
