46 /100 MANNINGTREE STATION, STATION APPROACH
“Manningtree has a small, traditional station building on platform 2, which was crowded with men in suits when we arrived on the boat train from Harwich just after 7am on a sunny but slightly frosty September morning. Our connecting train to Ipswich had been cancelled so we sat in the little patio area outside awaiting further information and noticed that the buffet had four hand pumps. Imagine my surprise when I saw that it was already listed on Ratebeer! The buffet also does traditional English breakfasts - a big one for £7ish and a smaller one for around £4. We didn’t try it as we were heading for the Wetherspoons in Ipswich but it’s worth bearing in mind for future reference. Bacon, eggs and beer anyone? (Visited 25 September 2018).“

46 /100 MANNINGTREE STATION, STATION APPROACH
“Walk through/past review thanks to Greater Anglia trains leaving us stuck at Manningtree station for 45 minutes instead of the quickfire change scheduled. Due to the early hour, trying the beers was not an option but it was just a couple of Greene Kings, something else commonplace (forget what) and a fourth not in use pump. So pretty much what Grumbo said. They do bacon rolls & such if you find yourself stuck here at an appropriate time.“

“A very nice station buffet, very welcome if you're changing trains at Manningtree! A reasonable selection considering it's not a very busy location“

38 /100 MANNINGTREE STATION, STATION APPROACH
“Saw someone had added this place to RB so thought I'd pay it a visit. First time for a few years. Once upon a time this place was a renowned beer Mecca but unfortunately over the years has been subjected to various bouts of football related violence (on the main line out of London) and is a shadow of its former past (not sure if the two are related). Now it serves 3 pretty standard local ales (2 GK and Wherry), a few mainstream bottles and dull taps. Atmosphere is ok as is service. If stuck at Manningtree station, do visit it, but otherwise it's really not worthy of a visit for its range of beers.“
