66 /100 WALMERSLEY OLD RD,
“At the end of a bone-rattling cobbled lane that is always rising until you reach the pub, the only respite is the tarmac on the bridge that crosses the Motorway, as you have to approach this place off the main road from the northern suburbs of Bury. It’s worth the trip though as the pub has wonderful views across the valley either from its rear windows or from large car park at its side. It’s also worth it for the large selection of ales from the Leyden Brewery which this end of terrace pub uses as its home. You can get third samplers of the six ales on offer if you fancy trying several. There’s three parts to this pub, all open plan, with a dining room area to the left of the central doorway, the bar against the back wall in the middle, and a right hand room that offers the aforementioned views, all of which are decorated well in traditional pub attire, fixtures and fittings.“

70 /100 WALMERSLEY OLD RD,
“Leyden brewpub up in the hills above Bury. Cobbled road leads up to the venue which will test your suspension. There is a token bus service too. Lovely old pub with lots of room. Good home cooked food and 6 beers normally from Leyden but happened to land during a beer festival so a good range of guests. Beer won’t set the world alight but the pub offers lovely views over the moors on the July evening I visited. It’s a nice old place. £8 in a cab from Bury town centre and worth every penny.“
