58 /100 Wilton Arms (Sizzling Pubs) (Restaurant) 818 MANCHESTER OLD ROAD This is clearly a new incarnation of an older pub that feeds off the freshly built hotel that it shares a car park with. It’s still a pub with a traditional style throughout and it has a fine decoration throughout and there’s clearly been some money spent on this place, but the defined restaurant area is much bigger than the drinking side and it’s clear the main focus of the place if family dining and retention of visitors staying in the hotel. There is decent cask ale here on a couple of pumps though which may sway your decision to stay or eat here |
50 /100 Carters Arms (J.W. Lees) (Bar) 610 MANCHESTER OLD ROAD On the main road between Middleton and the motorway, this JW Lees pub advertises food to the many vehicles that pass this way and is probably the best draw for non-locals that are in this part of Greater Manchester. You can of course just sample JW Lees ales here which are in both cask and keg form at the bar which is central in the building. The bar side that faces the road offers very little ambiance but the best room at the rear of the building is nicely furnished and you can order at either side. |
