50 /100 THE CROSS, BATH ROAD Nice small brewpub with 3 brews. Good quality & cool atmosphere. |
76 /100 THE CROSS, BATH ROAD Been here twice now: each time before a football match up the near-by hill at Forest Green Rovers.
Large friendly pub with a good selection of their own and guest beers on cask as well as the usual suspects on keg.
Basic and uncomplicated decor: mostly wood, toilets down some stairs. Brewing material laying about (sacks of malt/hops/etc) in the side rooms, all very rural in every corner of the place. I like it.
No food, but you bring in your own stuff or order Fish & Chips from the chippie next door (takes a while for them to fry Haddock, as the idiots around these parts eat Cod!). |
74 /100 THE CROSS, BATH ROAD Visited here 29.05.11, we cycled from The Tunnel House Inn across a pleasant part of the Cotwsolds and arrived here for opening time. When we turned up the pub was very quiet save for one customer who looked remarkably like a painting of a local that was on the wall of the front bar and also on a pumpclip ’Old Rocky’ We sat near this chap and got into conversation and established that this was indeed ’Old Rocky’ who then proceeded to tell us the fascinating history of this pub before taking us on a grand tour of pub and brewery. Old Rocky was a lovely fella’ and clearly someone who was proud of the achievements of this pub which I understand he had played a very big part in. We had about 7-8 beers to choose from and settled on the Seven Sins from the Severn Vale Brewery, along with Nailsworth Town Mayor Bitter before a Wickwar Spring Ale, all were very decent beers in particular the Seven Sins was really good. Nice pub, in a pleasant location and with an interesting history and characters involved. |
64 /100 THE CROSS, BATH ROAD Recently refurbished and re-opened (well the pub bit, see the press clippings on show about the local whingeing) brewpub in the centre of the town. Normally has 4 Nailsworth and a couple of guest beers from local microbreweries; the Hetty Pegler brewery has now closed. The courtyard patio is a pleasant place to sit and enjoy a few beers. A good Cotswolds pub. |
