“A lovely old pub this with an independent, family-run feel. It's located close to cycling / walking routes through the New Forest and it seems many use this as a mid-way stop. I actually cycled past it by chance on a 65 mile ride the day before we called in. Quite a nice beer selection, with seemingly one keg IPA line (Monkey Brewhouse Kveik IPA on my visit) and a wall of around 6 or 7 gravity casks behind, including Hopback Summer Lightning, a ruby mild and a bitter made for the pub by Bowlands. Some mainstream lagers and a couple of Purbeck ciders sees everyone else catered for. Ploughmans lunch is their main food offering, although quiche and pork pies are also available but as part of the £12.50 serving with salad, chutney etc.. Interesting books to read and old artwork on the walls. Really nice place with a lot of charm. Also, in addition to explosivedog's rating we parked right outside the pub though I imagine on a weekend parking is at a premium.“

“Old fashioned small pub with a huge outdoor seating area. Local cask ales from a variety of brewers are served off gravity. Food is exclusively Ploughman's lunches, except some evenings I believe. This is about as good as a New Forest pub is going to get, for beer drinkers, walkers, or people who love Ploughman's. One of my favourite places to head to when visiting family. It is a shame that one has to limit how much beer they drink with the long walk back across the forest to the car.“
