70 /100 BOTLEY ROAD
“Small roadside pub on the main Botley Road in Shedfield Village. No frills boozer with 5 or 6 real ales behind the bar on a stillage and a couple of real ciders. The beers are mainly from the Flowerpots Brewery in Cheriton with other locals like Oakleaf appearing occasionally. Beer festival late spring holiday and live music most Saturday evenings. The rear garden is a real sun trap and a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Friendly and efficient service, chatty locals and wood-burning stove. Most importantly the beer is excellent and very good value, about 80p cheaper than a Fullers pub for example. Can’t really comment on the food as I haven’t eaten here but it is very popular (lunchtime only I think). This is no grand architectural gem but a solid, well-loved pub which is great at what it does. Well worth a visit simply for the beer. Update: had a really good roast pork Sunday lunch here a couple of months ago. Good value and plentiful.“
