“Well thought out Wetherspoon with an attractive and atmospheric design. There isn’t much width to this pub but it extends back far, and there’s a small rear garden too. It does get a bit tight on the door and stairway to the toilets - it’s a bit like waiting for the green light at roadworks if it’s a busy night. Inside the decor includes an elevated fireplace that is the most popular place to sit across from when it has been stoked, and there’s also a homage to the trees that made the ships for Britannia to rule the waves as large trunks separate booths towards the front of the building. Its dark wood look and dim lighting make this place appealing along with the aforementioned. Ales are rightly given a good place here with plenty of local craft choice on two rows of pumps.“
