60 /100 Press Room (Bar) 1 CORN SQUARE Corner cafe-bar styled pub with three cask and something local on one or two of these. Its right next to the Wetherspoon except for an alleyway between the two in the main town square |
60 /100 Duke’s Head (JDW) (Bar) 3 CORN SQUARE Town Square town centre 'L' shaped with the short side on entry and long bar side eventually leading to a garden area. Traditional style with the usual set of Wetherspoon drinks available. |
42 /100 Duke’s Head (JDW) (Bar) 3 CORN SQUARE This Wetherspoons sits in a prominent position on the central square in Leominster, there are a few outside tables to enjoy the sunshine. Inside this has to be the quietest Wetherspoons I have ever been in, there is a hushed library atmosphere only woken out of its slumber by the solo bar girl rushing up and down the bar like a dervish. There is a disappointingly small / restricted choice on the bar although the beers we had were in good order. Not a Spoons I would rush back to despite it being really clean and tidy. |
64 /100 Grape Vaults (Bar) 4 BROAD STREET, Cosy little pub on the main drag through Leominster. The bar is to the left as you enter and has a small range of local choices. Easy going and friendly, a bit of local banter going on. The seating is a little excessive having to squeeze in on the large tables, but once in it's fine. Rivals the Chequers on the condition of the beers available. Well worth a look. |
68 /100 Chequers (Bar) 63 ETNAM STREET This is the Wye Valley Brewery tied pub in town, well just off the town centre to be pedantic. It is a lovely old building, spotless, relaxed and possibly the busiest pub in Leominster on the day. The beers are all from Wye Valley from what I could see and all those that our group had were in great condition, so well worth its place in the current GBG. The outside seating area is lovely on a sunny afternoon. Well worth a visit for the pub but you may struggle to find new beers if you have had a goodly amount of Wye Valley. |
62 /100 Press Room (Bar) 1 CORN SQUARE Bang next door to The Wetherspoons this is a newly opened bar in the centre of Leominster. There is a beer cafe type feel to it, relaxed and easy going. There is a bar to the left as you enter with a couple of local beers plus a Marstons guest beer, macro kegs but probably of some interest is the beer fridge to the right with a mix of local bottles and a few Belgians etc. Friendly and helpful staff. Worth a peek. |
42 /100 Ducker Bar & Beer Garden (Restaurant) 11 SOUTH STREET This is a quiet venue on the seemingly main road through the centre of town. The front area is given up to pool tables and the like, the rear is a bit of a jumbled seating area. The 'garden' is a back yard type arrangement but with comfortable seating. Not much of a beer range on our visit, a couple of local beers in rather unfortunate nick. Somewhat disappointing really. |
62 /100 Duke’s Head (JDW) (Bar) 3 CORN SQUARE Visited 11/2/2019. 5th JDW on this tour and for me it was the nicest. Beer range was not untypical of what we’d been seeing, but the setting was by far the best. Located in the attractive central square / market place, inside its comfortable and bright with a long bar beyond which is a large and nicely designed outside patio area. One I’d happily revisit if in the area again. |
68 /100 Grape Vaults (Bar) 4 BROAD STREET, Visited 11/2/2019. Historic, cosy, traditional pub with a welcoming roaring fire and a reasonable selection of local ales. Was quite busy when we visited. Some of the locals looked a little unfriendly, that aside, good visit. |
58 /100 Duke’s Head (JDW) (Bar) 3 CORN SQUARE They only had two cask guest cask ales on at out visit, so this was a little disappointing. Those two beers were decent, though. Otherwise this is a standard JDW. |
72 /100 Grape Vaults (Bar) 4 BROAD STREET, Cozy little pub with four local beers on cask at our visit including three of their own. There was fire in the fireplace. Visit here for both local ticks and an overall good pub experience. |
74 /100 Grape Vaults (Bar) 4 BROAD STREET, Nice traditional pub. They had a nice little fireplace as well. Had a few local casks here and is worth a visit. |
60 /100 Duke’s Head (JDW) (Bar) 3 CORN SQUARE RegularJDW. |
62 /100 Duke’s Head (JDW) (Bar) 3 CORN SQUARE We’ll from my short visit to Leominster, there is a shortage of good places in the town to have a drink so ended up here. Usual spoons 10 casks, but they did have 6 ciders in bags in a box. Otherwise standard spoons. |
82 /100 Grape Vaults (Bar) 4 BROAD STREET, Lovely cosy little pub with pleasant staff and a good selection of quality ales. |
72 /100 Grape Vaults (Bar) 4 BROAD STREET, Loz and I have visited here on a number of occasions as Loz’s mum lives just 5-6 miles away. A friendly little place that is a little maze like if you are unfamiliar with it. Always found the locals chatty and prepared to engage in conversation. The beer selection will always interest those keen to try some local brews and beer has always been in good nick whenever I have ventured in here. Good place. |
80 /100 Grape Vaults (Bar) 4 BROAD STREET, Charmingly warm, welcoming pub in the central area of Leominster. A delightful couple run it, and attract a friendly local clientele. Up to five local real ales available on handpump. Food represents excellent value for money. I visited on Saturday 10th April 2010 with a group of seven others attending an annual event in the town. Even their smallest dishes came with a substantial side salad, those of us eating the curry and the chili con carne were very satisfied indeed. In addition, Sunday roasts are available. There is no jukebox or any gaming machines but a TV is rolled out for sporting events, in the case of my visit - the Grand National at Aintree. Live music and comedy acts staged occasionally - contact the pub directly or view website for further details on these. At all other times, conversation rules! This is the first time I have reviewed the pub for Ratebeer, and every previous visit has been enjoyable. |
