62 /100 12 LOWER GATE ROAD
“A Thwaites pub located in the middle of the Huncoat conurbation. It’s unmissable on the main road through the village but a fair walk up the hill from the station. The main room is set around a large central brick pillar with the comfortable traditional seating on all sides around this. The bar is at the back of the room and includes three ale pumps that carry both the main Thwaites range but also ales from their craft brewery operation arm. It shows the live football and has a very large car park at its side, although curiously given the large grounds there’s no outdoor area.“

58 /100 2 STATION ROAD HUNCOAT
“In an attractive and solid stone brick building right next to the platform of Huncoat station. It’s a real shame that there are only two real ales here given its perfect location for rail ale users, however it’s a feasible stop given that one of the pumps rotates a guest, John Smiths Cask is a permanent fixture on the other. The decor and style is traditional but it’s well kept and maintained and there’s a resident dog here too.“
