“Despite (or possibly because of) the craft beer revolution, village brewpubs are not as common as they once were. The Pig in Muck is definitely in the middle of nowhere, and despite living in Leicestershire for nigh on 5 years, I'd never made it here. When I finally visited it, it wasn't what I expected. The beer choice was better (4 cask and 1 keg from the brewery) than I'd thought it would be, but it is far more of an eating than a drinking pub, with the brewery as a secondary interest to the carvery (I was been advised to book well in advance should we want to have a meal). The beer is generally quite good if incredibly traditional (bitter, gold, mild, amber and stout available on my occasion). I've had their beer before and hadn't been as impressed as I was today, but of course always good to have it at source. Maybe not a destination but worth coming for the ticks.“

“Friendly family feel, and a focus on food, but also have 5 real ales on hand pump. When I was there 2 had their own beers and two had guest beers. Nice enough place even if just to sample their own beers. Didn’t try the food on the Thursday lunch time I was there, but it was packed with diners. No wifi“
