| 60 /100 143 BIRKENHEAD ROAD, “In an imposing large self-standing building on the main road across the northern tip of the Wirral, it's public area cover most of the ground floor area, split into two open plan sides. The central doorway leads you into the left hand side of these but its cask ales are in a line immediately in front of you, here there's a mix of Greene King and guest ales, but with half a dozen on offer it's not a bad selection for the area this pub is located in. I ended up having a couple of the guests staying for a while, with the train station less than 5 minutes walk away. There's a large car park and outdoor seating too. It's not a tourist area so probably has a fairly loyal local base visiting here. Food seems to be the main draw for those visiting, although live sport is shown here too on the television screens.“ |
