70 /100 ON THE A684 IN AYSGARTH
“A 17th Century coaching inn on the A684 road on the edge of Aysgarth (famed for its falls which are a 10/15 minute walk away). We stayed here for 2 nights in Sep ’10 whilst attending a friends wedding at the nearby Bolton castle. Good trad boozer with a 50/50 mix of locals and tourists. We ate here on the first night and the food was pretty decent. 5 hand pulls and on my visit these included offerings from Black Sheep, Tim Taylor and a couple from Yorkshire Dales. Beers were all in great nick and the service around the cramped bar was good. I even got a pint of Butter Tubs at 10.30 am post breakfast on the morning of the wedding (was to be the only decent beer that day!!!). Decor is ’trad’ ole pub stylee, wooden beamed sealings, mixture of chairs, leather benches, nic-nacs adorning the walls and shelves. Nice little pub, accomodation wasn’t cheap but you got 5 well kept cask ales just a staircase away! Would definately stop here again.“
