76 /100 27-31 SAWMILLS ROAD Visited 17/12/2023 with CW. Just a 5 minute walk from Diss station. Set in a commercial area this is a modern industrial style brewery and tap, and well worth a visit. 20 or so different Ampersand beers available with 3 cask, 14 keg and a large can fridge which included a few not on tap. Plenty of seating inside and out. Food available including (as we were lucky enough to discover) an excellent Sunday roast during colder months. Normally it’s burgers. Kid and dog friendly. Liked this place. |
80 /100 27-31 SAWMILLS ROAD I immediately felt comfortable here, as this place reminds me of some of my favorite taprooms in the US. In fact, staff said that the owners visited a lot of taprooms in the US before settling on a design. It's intimately associated with the brewhouse, so sights and smells are wonderful when they're brewing. Lots of barstools at the bar, and more along a counter with a view of the brewery. Large outdoor space with lots of picnic tables. Friendly staff. Lots of taps and lots more beers in the fridge. Beers are sold from the fridge for longer hours than the taproom is open. Great place. |
76 /100 27-31 SAWMILLS ROAD Just off the main road and shares the site with a Vineyard. There were about 3 small outbuildings with the brewery and taproom. Both tap and bottle sales. A nice set up, not busy when i visited. |
46 /100 43 MERE STREET An old town centre pub overlooking the mere that has had a modern refurbishment. Food orientated and the beer range is decidedly boring, the beer I tried was in good nick. Service was ’spoons-esque with 1 person serving and most ordering food etc. Current GBG entry (2016) |
