“The Three Shires is a cosy little traditional pub (aren't they all traditional in Kettering?) in the northeast of the town centre. Pretty quiet when I came in, although it was the end of the Bank Holiday. It's one large room with the bar immediately to your left as you walk in. There are about 6 cask beers - Potbelly, Green Jack and Weldon - complemented by about as many ciders. Keg are mostly macro. You'll have enough to choose from but the choice isn't massive. It's a decent but not absolutely essential stop. Very good value for 2022.“

“Called in while on a coach trip round Northamptonshire pubs and enjoyed Phipps Ratcliffe Celebrated Stout and Mighty Oak Silver Smith. There were also 2 beers from Full Mash, and from York and Grainstore breweries. Traditional pub games like skittles, darts, table skittles feature and a shove halfpenny board.“

“Visited 8/2/2019. Weed anyone? Cos the place stank of it! Beers wise, wasn't a bad selection of cask ales, included one of their own, prices were very reasonable. Small front bar, with larger multi-purpose use area at the back. Overall it's a decent back street pub but didn't enjoy the places Friday evening vibe.“

“Traditional pub and a bit worn down. Visited on a Friday night and it was quite busy. Good selection of local beers on cask. Unfortunately there was a heavy smell of weed there.“

“Decent pub with around 10 cask beers. We had three locals and a Saloipian. One was good, one was below average and the last two were average. The place smelled of weed, which was obviously not a plus. Good for local ticks, which was what I wanted.“

“Almost certainly the best pub in Kettering although I haven’t had a session here in a while (until now). Very real ale and very old-fashioned, it’s a locals’ local but that doesn’t mean you won’t be made welcome. They offer about 10 real ales... 13 pumps but it being Saturday night quite a few choices had already been drunk dry. The small public is always crowded, the lounge (which shows sport) only slightly less so. Cheese skittles table in the back which I think is mandatory by law around here.“
