76 /100 THE ABDICATION MICROPUB, 89 MANSFIELD ROAD, DAYBROOK
“Sleepyittle mucropub in a sleepy part of the Nottingham conurbation. It has a lovely old-fashioned feel to it - a small pub with some seating outside in the summer - but don't let this fool you: it's got an incredible beer list with the likes of Thornbridge and Round Corner, plus some interesting local ciders that I've not yet seen. Didn't notice any Good Stuff beer but it appears to still be affiliated. It is a bit out of the way, so maybe not a destination as it is kind of out on its own, but I'd recommend a stop here if you can fit it in with whatever else you're doing.“

“Decent addition to the Blue Monkey chain in Arnold. The frontage is a lot older than the interior which has been renovated to give the right amount of spit and sawdust as befits an Organ Grinder pub. Regarding the beer, it's very basic with 6 Blue Monkey handpulls and one guest (8 Sail on my occasion). There are lots of Blue Monkey beers I don't have yet but more seasoned tickers might not come away with much. Not my favourite in the chain but still definitely worth a wander in.“

“Traditional boozer in Arnold which showcases Lincoln Green and other local beers. It's a traditional two-room set-up, as you walk in there a hatch for the bar (not sure this is used) with the public to your left, lounge to your right. Keg isn't up to much but there are 10 sessionable cask beers from the likes of Lincoln Green, Lenton Lane, Castle Rock and Welbeck Abbey. The beer is cheap and sessionable (although a couple are 5% or above). You know exactly what you're getting here and that's no bad thing. And you'll get ticks especially if you are not from the area. Piped classic rock (Petty, Beatles etc).“

“A big open plan JDW. Well used by Arnold folk but service was friendly even if there was only Guinness available for the stout and porter stroll. Food etc is what you would expect of the chain. I won’t hurry back.“

“Lincoln Greens home brewhouse and sometimes CAMRA pub of the year locally. Ambience is great as there’s plenty of corners to sit and drink in piece across each side of the two bars. Five rooms in all. Located on quite a busy corner so outside is not really an option. Usually 6 LG beers and 4 guests. And 6 cider taps. I didn’t try the food but the service and the locals were friendly.“

“On the northern edge of the city within the small commercial centre in Arnold, this Wetherspoon in its own early 20th century brick building has a fairly spacious open plan ground floor setting with lots of window seats available. It’s pretty much a locals bar but packs in plenty of ale pumps on a couple of rows so if you’re in the area there should be something of interest here. It’s a very standard traditional look associated with older pubs in this chain.“
