“A pub of 2 halves, the front is a 17th Century Horton honeyed stone delight, the rear is a 1960’s monstrosity of an extension, they wouldn’t be able to do that now! Part of and leased from the Broughton Castle estate Danny and Liz run an excellent pub. Probably the biggest beef for drinkers is that most of the pub is laid up for diners, but this is the way of the pub world now, you need to keep the dining experience money coming in. My favourite part of the pub is the garden on a warm sunny afternoon, idyllic comes to mind. It is a true free house so the occasional pleasant surprise is available. Recommended.“
