| biznizness (25), Mooresville, North Carolina | | June 16, 2005 [ Updated March 24, 2007 ] One of my very favorite brewpubs. The theme is awesome, food and beer is good, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Steelgaarden (downstairs) is awesome and usually draws a young but mature crowd. | | hopdog (201), Lansdale, Pennsylvania | | May 15, 2005 Huge inside (multiple levels as well). Stoped by for Sunday lunch. Sandwiches were OK. Beer samplers come in 5.5oz glasses x 6! | | illinismitty (224), Nashville, Tennessee | | December 3, 2005 [ Updated March 7, 2008 ] I must admit I was very surprised by this place. I was expecting it to mediocre. There are usually 7 to 8 beers on tap. I found the session beers to be average and the higher ABV beers to be much better. Food is reasonably priced, and they have burgers, wraps, pasta, and even steaks if you have the cash. A semi-contemporary decor inside, with a steel theme. Prices are good, especially during happy hour. A sampler is only 8 dollars. They have a sister bar (Steelgaarden) in the basement, which is dimly lit with a trendy type martini bar lounge ambiance. There are also two nice pool tables. The Steelgaarden offers a nice selection of bottled Belgian beer (nothing rare), house draft beers, mixed drinks, and hard liquor. The beer menu is broken down by style, which I really liked. If you are in Bethlehem, you would be a fool not to stop in to both bars. | | Cletus (175), Connecticut | | November 13, 2005 Stopped here for dinner on my way back from Lancaster. The interior is your typical brewpub. The food is above average, the service is decent and the selection was great. I had the peach lambic while there and liked it enough to pick up a growler to bring back with me. Interesting town and ambiance. | richlikebeer (8), Easton, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | October 19, 2005 a very nice, clean place with a 60’s diner-ish bar area for atmosphere. a very good size glass for their samplers, 6oz i think. been here a couple times for eats, and everything has been pretty good. they need more rotation on their brews imo, as they have 3 stock beers and usually no more than 4 rotating ones. the steelgarden is nice, some pool tables and nice lounge areas, but they dont have alot of the things they put in their menu, which was very disappointing, and the premier stuff was really expensive, (22$ for a westy 8) | headbrewer (1), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | September 28, 2005 Beer for the most part is well made.
Food is very good with an exceptional selection for a brew pub. If you have not been there for 6 months or more try it again. | | Firemoose15 (15), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania | | September 1, 2005 Finally went back after a few years, the last time I was there I wasn’t overly impressed. This time, however, I was pleasantly surprised. To start, I took the family along. It has plenty of space and you’re not at all crammed in. I had the house sampler, everything was good to better than good. I also had dinner, wow, the food was excellent and there in no time at all and I would consider them busy. My wife also commented how good the food was as well. Overall other than being a bit noisy I thought everything was great. | | Fantomas23 (17), Pewaukee, Wisconsin | | August 24, 2005 Cool little place themed after the now-defunct Bethlehem Steel. The menu is adequate and the food I saw on the menu should pair well with one of the five or six fresh brews they have available. I stopped by on a Friday night and had a moderate wait time of about 10 minutes. I had been by here previously on another occassion a couple of years ago and had a beer. This time I went for the sampler - usually six 5.5 ounce glasses of what’s on tap. This time of year they only had five, but I also got some cider that worked well for dessert. One of the brews isn’t listed on ratebeer yet: a Dunkel Weiss (and my favorite of the samplers).
I can’t mention this place without also bringing up the Steelgaarden, which is one floor down. The place boasts over 100 Belgian brews in addition to the house beers (but doesn’t have its own place rating set up on ratebeer). I enjoyed an Achel 8 Bruin as the coeds ordered Miller Lite, which is not carried. I left before 10:00 p.m. on a Friday night, so I can’t tell just how crowded this joint might get, especially when Lehigh U. and Moravian College get into session. | | Nejhleader (64), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania | | August 6, 2005 overall a pretty awsome place. Nice location right in down town bethlehem. The place was huge and it needed to be because it was packed. Of course i happened to have gone up there the weekend when some stupid musicfest was going on so it was abnormally packed. Besides that it was still an awsome place. or waitor screwed up once or twice which ticked me off but the atmosphere was well worth it. Beer selection wasn’t all that great. SIx house beers and maybe 2 or 3 others on tap. | | JFURYCAT (34), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania | | March 19, 2005 I’ve been here numerous times and the staff seem friendly, the Steel Garden has a great selection of Belgians and a nice atmosphere (candles, lounge-like), and the location is good (parking is accessible). Upstairs I sometimes feel like I’m in a mill with the whole industrial theme and that is cool. Tables are evenly spaced and everyone has breathing space. The food isn’t bad either but don’t expect an NYC or Philadelphia gourmet chef to be on hand. |
