| YogiBeera (109), Hamburg, Germany | | August 10, 2004 I did not quite like the place. The interior was kind of untasty modern cheesy and weird. The service was ok. The beer was below average - not that good. I wouldn’t recommend that place! | | Dogbrick (218), Columbus, Ohio | | April 23, 2004 The Frog & Rosbif is located in a kind of seedy area of Paris, like a combination red light district/college town. Inside they have done their best to capture a British pub look and feel. The servers we dealt with even sounded British. We were there during a big soccer game so the place was smoky, loud and packed with people. The seating area is toward the front, basically a lot of wooden tables and chairs. The bar is all the way in the back. They have a board on the wall that describes their beers.
The beers are all fairly low ABV and average tasting. They have a regular offering of 4 as well as a seasonal. When we visited the seasonal was Froegaarden and it was definitely the best one. They do not offer a sampler but when I asked for one they brought me 5 full sized glasses, each with a sample in it.
The service here was very slow, even by Paris standards. It is not really the fault of the servers, more to management who had this place severely understaffed. Getting refills was next to impossible, and we waited for our bill for a very long time after we had finished.
The food is pretty good pub fare. We had good old fashioned burgers and they were well made.
Overall, this place was a bit of a letdown for being the only brewpub we visited in Paris. Still, I can see the potential of this place and would definitely give it another try. |
