biggenius29 (6), Hamilton, Michigan does not count - explanation | | June 13, 2007 This is my all time favorite bar. I love there beer, I have not had a beer yet that I did not like. Ok, the ambiance is really nice, it can get a little noisy on the weekends, but I usually end up going on off hours. The service is good service wise, but beer wise they are not very good, I havent had one yet that knew the beer really well. The selection is good too, the selection of food is awsome, I get there at least once a month, sometimes more, and have yet to order the same thing off the menu, and everything I had was awsome. But, there beer selection is lacking at times, it used to be they had a very good lineup of beers only available at the pub, but in the past 6 months that selection has been lacking. Now only have 1 maybe 2 brews that can only be found only on tap. | | chicagodri (36), Chicago, Illinois | | May 9, 2007 Nice clean bar with decent food. I stopped by here once on my way to Traverse City. I was pretty impressed and would compare it to a small Goose Island. I like how all the locals can join a club and have their personal glassware behind the bar for them. Worth a visit. | | redlem (60), Illinois | | March 24, 2007 [ Updated June 10, 2007 ] Visited on a weekend, years ago. Had to pay an entrance fee due to a band playing that night. All beer served in some Mason jar glassware. College feel to place which is odd since I dont know of any college around Holland, could be wrong about that. | | GeneralGao (220), Iowa City, Iowa | | December 16, 2006 Located in a picturesque small town on the main drag. They had 12-13 of their own beers on tap and offered a sampler. 6 packs were available for take out. Food and service were both good. I visited on a weekday around 11:30 AM. Pretty good size lunch crowd. The brew pub itself is very clean and well appointed with a long bar and big windows that look out on the street. Very classy place that someone has invested a lot of money in. | | AustinMilbarge (49), Denver, Colorado | | December 14, 2006 I’ve been in a few times, however, I’ve never been impressed with the service. The bartenders and servers don’t really seem to notice that they are at work and have a job to do. The beer is good and there are offerings that are hard/impossible to find elsewhere. The food is alright, nothing impressive. | matto983 (2), South Haven, Michigan does not count - explanation | | October 22, 2006 [ Updated December 10, 2006 ] Been in here a bunch of times, servers are usually helpful, I think their selection is a little more limited than I’d like, but they do have a couple beers I’d drink anytime. Food there is pretty good. | | kseecs16 (141), Naperville, Illinois | | July 12, 2006 [ Updated May 24, 2007 ] Stopped in for a lunch and was impressed by the great selection of their brews available. Had a sampler of their specialty beers. Really enjoyed all of the beers, especially theRauch Hatter. Food was good. The modernistic decor was not really up my alley but it was very new and clean looking. Nice little selection of beer to bring home. | | SubstanceT (114), Saint Louis, Missouri | | June 26, 2006 Through our entire trip through michigan this place was the place that I was most impressed with. Clean food was good and the service was top notch. What was best is that they had beers here that they had no plans on ever distributing. Wonderful. Exactally what I wanted in a brewpub. NON SMOKING GREAT !!!! | | DrnkMcDermott (73), Downers Grove, Illinois | | March 6, 2006 [ Updated January 6, 2009 ] Non-smoking, which automatically places it up the list of my favorite places to have a beer. But still, bright and airy, the usual exposed brick walls. Decent pub-grub fare. Very tidy, friendly and welcoming. A lot of special strong beers on tap that I think would never appear in stores, until I find them in their "High Gravity" series a few months later. State of Michigan allows package sales from the brewer, not a thing to be taken for granted everywhere, so you have many options for bringing stuff home. I compliment it by saying it has the atmosphere of a college bar… but a Dutch Reformed college bar. Pinball, too! | | Aggie80 (14), Michigan | | September 3, 2005 Another great place to go for lunch and a beer! Drinks are served in quart jar mugs and samples in smaller jars. Outstanding sandwiches, good enough that we make it a point to stop there for lunch when in the area. Large area and bright, very kid friendly. |
