| CharlesDarwin (144), Point Judith, Rhode Island | | November 27, 2009 The first time I went to this place, I really liked it. The owner/operator was friendly and we chatted about a lot of different things. He helped the customers that came in and kept up a conversation with me. The prices do seem a little high, but the diversity of equipment is good and it’s worthy paying a little extra to support a local enterprise. Quite a diversity of malts and hops. They have a cooperative brew setup going, where you can join, go and brew on a particular day, and then get a portion of the finished product. The owner has even talked about becoming a licensed microbrewery. I had an Abbey Dubbel on tap and thought it was very good. | | Cletus (175), Connecticut | | June 10, 2006 Kind of small which is typical of homebrew supply shops. Their prices seemed average. Their selection was pretty average and some of their supplies seemed a bit old. I was pretty much ignored when there despite being the only person in the store. | kikuchiyo (1), Rhode Island does not count - explanation | | December 13, 2005 Decent selection for homebrewers, though sometimes I wonder about freshness of the less common malts. The main problem with this place is the owner/operator, who is not the nicest guy in the world. He’s criticized me for buying liquid yeast, as if I’m wasting my $. Not only is this unhelpful, it’s bad business. He always seems annoyed when filling grain and malt orders too. Now I do mail order... |
