| Palidor19 (11), Brandon, Florida | | March 7, 2007 Its not much to look in the front, but it does have a grand selection of variety. Many beer that are hard to find is here plus a couple of rare sake’s. Don’t let the outside scare you off, take a look, I’m sure you’ll find something. | | nick76 (76), Tampa, Florida | | December 3, 2006 [ Updated May 7, 2009 ] This place looks like a dive on the inside and out but man do they have the best selection of beer! This place is filled with a great selection of beers and sadly many of them used to be stale but they have changed this and it is fine to shop without fear of a skunked beer. This place truly has a GREAT selection. The service is somewhat uninterested and not always knowledgeable but you can get a bulk discount. A must see. | | Ibrew2or3 (161), Safety Harbor, Florida | | August 21, 2006 [ Updated March 28, 2007 ] A rather un-assuming place from the outside. Looks like an innocent little convenient store, just like every other corner, until you see the palate stretching beer selection inside toward the back wall. The price is a bit higher here than some other places. But it has an impressive selection. I could have walked out with at least 40 different beers I haven’t tried before and a good dozen or so I’ve never seen before. They still have Avery’s “The Beast” 2004 bomber. In fact they have several. I should have picked one up but I had to draw the line somewhere. If I’m in the general area I will definitely stop in.
They are carefully cellaring several of my favorite beers right now, unless one of you buys them up before my next trip back.
| | footbalm (54), Salt Lake City, Utah | | May 21, 2006 i had called ahead and asked this guy,Indian Chappie, and he really had no idea of what he had but wanted me to know that it was just as good as World of Beer. Lots of obscure brews and a huge selection of cold ones . Lots of bums trying to beg cigs from a non-smoker. | | BrockLanders (30), Panama City, Florida | | March 21, 2006 A hidden gem of a beer store. Blink and you’ll miss it. Cleverly hidden by the drunks out front toting the brown bag covered fortys and the cheap beer/lottery signs in front. Go inside and do a little treasure hunting.....lotsa jewels to be found. Great selection! | | NYHarvey (124), New York, New York | | January 31, 2006 [ Updated December 5, 2006 ] Re-re-rate. Best beer store in the Tampa Bay area selection wise.
March 31st 2006 Re-rate
After a second visit I have to up the rating on this place. There are precious few bottle shops I can go to in the Bay Area and drop $130 bucks and still leave behind 15+ beers I have yet to try.
They have been special ordering like mad it seems and I found JP Marcaibo (which no one else in the Bay Area has that I know of), Old Engine Oil Reserve..again only place I know that carries it. Flemish primitive, Aged Gales Barley Wines from 2001 that JUST arrived. Fish Tale brews and just tons of other things you wont see on other shelves. You really have to get down on your hands and knees and dig for beers and YOU WILL FIND old bottles, but if you know what has a chance to have survived there are gems galore.
The prices aren’t cheap, but they aren’t ludicrous like Hyde Park Express and they have beers that literally no one else has. I found a stout there I hadn’t had which was the first time in 4 months or more that had happened for me in a Florida bottleshop. I think it’s a new favorite and I personally think it is a must stop if you are in that area.
| | redlight (50), Winter Park, Florida | | September 12, 2005 This is like going to a used record store! They’ve got all kinds of stuff there! But you’ve gotta dig for it! This was definitely worth the drive from Orlando. | | DragonStout (73), Pataskala, Ohio | | August 8, 2005 Wow looks just like a run down conveince store outside.Go in to the back of the store and u find beer paradise.some organization but its lots of fun going thru the cases and findiing suprises. My last trip there I got Sam Adams Chocolate bock and the Saranac 12 pack Sampler and some others i forgot.Prices are reasonable, not all beer is fresh tho, be careful. | Bumhoolery (1), does not count - explanation | | April 12, 2005 An isolated, aging convenience store is sort of an odd place for all these great beers, but who cares? Their selection (along with World of Beer) is the best in the bay area, and along with the very reasonable prices it’s the most convenient place for most of us in Pinellas to get their brews. As a previous reviewer noted, check the prices. A lot of these beers have obviously been sitting out in the open being knocked around for a year or more. The other day I decided not to buy their last bottle of Rogue IPA when I noticed that it was dated ’03. Still, this is where I go most of the time. | | hopdog (201), Lansdale, Pennsylvania | | February 16, 2005 Stopped by here on my way up to Dunedin. There are some old beers on the shelves (say a pilsner dated best before ’03). Still managed to buy a case of singles though... |
