A very crowded restaurant/pub with a good selection of belgians and american beers. Service was pretty slow but fairly knowleadgable. Food was OK, but nothing to fancy if you don’t feel like eating mussels and fries. A very nice bar nonetheless.

nice cozy pub atmosphere more upscale than your standard beer bar. in the nice historic distric. good belgian beer selection. not the best. great servers. belgian fries are just regular fries with mayonaise.

Eulogy is an oddity amongst the trendy bars in old city Philadelphia. The bar downstairs is very crowded and sometimes ther is a long wait for a table on the weekend but the wait is worth it. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Technically they have a great selection of beer but often they are out of many beers that are listed on their menu. this can become frustrating when you ask for five beers in a row and are told that they don’t have them. They do however, have around twenty beers on tap at all times and the food is excellent.

Pre-dinner visit on a cold November night. Place was fairly empty, which offered us a relaxed environment in which to examine the expansive beer menu plenty of quality Belgians plus a couple other odds and ends on tap, plus pages of Belgian, other European and American craft beers available in bottles. There was a crowd of guys yapping it up in the kitchen right at the end of the cozy bar area, which was a detractor. But the bartender was really friendly, knowledgeable of the beers, and even gave us a list of other places to check out that we may not have otherwise known about. Enjoyed my visit, and definitely worth a stop especially for those who prefer the Belgian varietals.

A nice, rather small 2 story bar in old city philadelphia. Ambiance was pretty cool downstairs, with a stained glass window behind the bar with a chalice in the middle of it- very nice touch. Was a bit crowded but we were able to get a spot at the bar- which would have never happened at Monks considering we were there at 7 pm on a Saturday evening. Service was very good- knowledgable, helpful, and pretty quick. The beer selection while outstanding, is not to the ridiculous level that Monks is. I had a great time here and I am sure to be back sometime in the future.

My favorite beer place in the city. Better than Monks. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Beer selection is extensive. Food is excellent. Friendly regulars at the bar.

A bit crowded, a bit overpiced. The service was really good, and the clientele friendly. A HUGE selection of brews. There was the occasional oddball, but the taps were dominated by easily-found varieties. I was a little miffed that the barkeep charged me for the Victory pint glass after I’d talked beer with him and his buddy for an hour, however he was very good about scampering up the stairs to draw beer for me from the other bar when needed.

Just realized that I hadn’t rated these guys. Nice place with a good selection of Belgians and a few good American micros on draft, plus a load of good bottles. As far as selection goes, its good but not quite Monk’s. Food is pretty good, the staff is friendly and helpful (unlike Monk’s), and its Old City location is rather nice, especially since the new Triumph brewpub is right across the street. Worth the trip for locals and visitors to Philly alike.

This is an exellent bar and is well worth the trip. The environment is perfect for old city in Philadelphia. This is a small bar with lots of character and full of employees who really know what their talking about. Lighting is dark, and set up is inviting. Eulogy has a top notch beer and wine selection with excellent Belgian style food as well. Feel free to ask the bartenders what would go with your meal and be prepared for an excellent recommendation. Be prepared to drop a average to large amount of money on a trip here if your a beer snob, or just want to experience items you can’t find anywhere. Its really easy to get wrapped into conversations with other patrons and exchange rounds all nite. Defiantly worth a trip!!

This place is AWESOME!!! the best bar I’ve ever been to in philadelphia. the upstairs bar was closed and kind of grubby looking so I can’t comment on that. Yes it was busy and hard to find a place to stand and sit as some of the negative comments before me have suggested but this place is awesome. the beer selection - 100s of bottles and like 15 or so awesome beers on tap served in beautiful glasses, i.e. snifters. bartender was friendly and knowledgeable and all the beers were fantastic. me and my possee only planned to stay for one round. we ordered 3 different beers and sort of passed them around but the beers were so good we stayed for a second round. the bar is just a narrow rectangle one-room with stools at the long bar and a few tall tables with tall stools along the wall and windowfront. its in a great location of the city, near the old town tourist attractions, i.e. independence hall and the liberty bell and around great restaurants. beers on tap were delirium, piraat, allagash, lots of leffe, the eulogy specials, la chouffe. we really enjoyed ourselves and I know you will too. go for a way to chill for a good hour or two in the middle of your touring or to start off your evening. cheers!
