COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sakemeter +/- 0, acidity 1.2. In 1964, Choryo succeeded in making Tarusake with the best taste by using Yoshino cedar barrels. Since then, we have been making Tarusake in the same traditional way for half a century. Fresh on the palate, and pleasant cedar flavor brings its peculiar richness with well-balanced harmonic aroma.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2024 Bottle from True Sake in San Francisco. Wonderful woody aroma. I guess that is pine, but it is also citrus and oak. Earthy floral yeast aroma. Very reminiscent of my favorite beer store in Tokyo. Lightly sweet. Easy to drink. Well done.

Bevuto a temperatura ambiente.

December 2017 - Tasting in Hackney. Bottle shared with big thanks to Paul. As 'Choryo Yoshinosugi No Taru Sake', 15.5%. Looks like clear water, with no head or other distinguishing features. Aroma is pink pez sweets, vanilla, faint marshmallow. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is very smooth and lacks the harsh alcohol that many sakes have, 'creamy' in a way that's difficult to explain with some faint vanilla and estery fruit vibes. Sort of like a premium vodka. One of the best sakes I've tried and rated to style, but in truth I'd still always reach for a beer rather than this. (7-3-6-4-14=3.4)

Bottle shared in Hackney - thanks to Paul. Pours clear and pale. Light floral notes, some lemon peel, background cedar. Light to medium sweet flavour with smooth white rice, creamy vanilla, woody undertones. Medium bodied, lightly chewy, soft. Warming finish, with more vanilla, sweet frosting, white rice, further understated cedar wood. Good fun.

Scopey (24260) - Oldmeldrum, SCOTLAND - DEC 11, 2017
Bottle picked up online. It pours crystal clear. The aroma is sweet, creamy, milky, woody sting, vanilla pudding, angel delight and a touch of white pepper. The taste is dry, rich wood character, tannin, creamy, milk of magnesia, strawberry, angel delight, boozy kick, gummy bear, liquorice and some spice with a dry wood finish. Medium - full body and oily mouth- feel. Has a good depth of flavour. Rather enjoyable stuff.

Sampled at Naraziumi Yuaai. Very sweet, dessertlike, has a light ricey, slightly floral character, accented by the fizziness. I do not pick up a distinct taruzake character.
