Rating #7500!3/12/16. 750mL shared by burg326. I can’t thank you enough, Adam! Black pour, thick and black as the blackest of used motor oil, under a nice tan head that sticks. Pretty delicious, even after all these years. Nice aroma, ashy, charred roasted malts, dark fruits, sweetness, relatively subtle whiskey and vanilla, oak, coffee, dark chocolates. Great flavor as well, slight hints of oxidation if you search for it, mild roasted malt acidity, coffee, dark chocolates, dark fruits. Complex and delicious. Very glad to have tried it!

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. The beer is a dark brown to black with no head. The aroma has ashy dark chocolate. The beer has a mild sweetness and it has an ashy bitterness to it. Big body and medium carbonation.

Bottle (at phaleslu’s 2015 Fall tasting). Wood, dark chocolate malt and hay aroma. Oil black with small tan head. Sweet dark chocolate malt, herbal hay, and coffee ground flavor. Nice body.

@ phaleslu’s cinci tasting. 750ml bottle. Very dark brown color. Ring of brown head. No lace really sticks though. Awesome dark roast, coffee, dark chocolate flavor, get some of that toasted spanish cedar, which is really interesting. Bigger body.. Great chewiness to the texture. Lighter, kind of slick carbonation, mild slick, but more dry finish. Dark fruit in the back end. Slight bit of peppery heat? Really great, interesting BA imperial stout, seems to have held up well.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, molasses, espresso, light coconut, vanilla, and a touch of bourbon. It pours a dark brown, virtually black, with no transparency and a minimal tan head that quickly fades to a very fine ring. The flavor starts with moderate dark chocolate, molasses, and light dark fruit. The finish has light espresso, vanilla, and bourbon. It’s full bodied with mild carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel.

Bottle: Thanks, Jeff. Deep, oily black. Typical for a CCB stout. Modest deep-tan head that quickly succeeds to a thin collar. Aroma of spicy cedar wood, peppers, roasted chocolate malt, milky cocoa, very faint bourbon warmth, faint vegetal notes, & a small hint of smoke. Flavor has more smoke & smooth, creamy chocolates up front. Hints of wet oak, dates, faint vanilla, & chocolate chips. Small touch of spicy cedar. Creamy, pretty smooth. A bit of burnt brown sugar that lingers in the finish with a hint of musty wood. Nice stuff overall.

In short: An orgy of sweetness, booze and barrels. Typical over-the-top CCB, hard to drink.
How: Bottle 750ml, thick black wax, #398 of 449, consumed with a few years of age on it. A forgotten bottle in the back of my cellar sent to me by Elliesbrown, thanks a lot Zack.
The look: Black body topped by a very small tan head.
In long: Nose is an overload of bourbon with the usual company of vanilla and other bourbon barrel friends. Taste improves on the aroma with the fun cedar barrel to oppose the usual boring bourbon juice. There is vanilla, bourbon, spicy cedar, coconut, plenty of booze, nougat, an exaggerated amount of residual sugars. Astringent hot finish dominated by wood and booze. Booze and sweetness are over the top, this is more than a sipper. Body was a bit disappointing, with this gravity and sweetness level I would have expected a rich thick body, it was just a medium body that made the sweetness and booze all the more apparent. No sign of age which is nice. After over an hour I was still struggling with the bottle, I finally gave up and didn’t finish it. I am often puzzled by the high ratings of those CCB boozy sugar-bombs, here I am completely dumbfounded. I’m obviously going against the grain here so I’d be curious to revisit this beer, but at this point this beer is as rare as a black person in a coloring book.

Bottled. Love 110k. Has a great amount of alcohol and some sweetness to it. You can taste the cedar and the caramel. The hops is noticeable but not taking over.

One of CCB’s first big stouts :-). For an older brew, it tasted much like a fresh Humidor Zhukov. There weren’t many hints of carbonation, but the fudge-black pour was enticing. The aroma and taste are the same; dry oak, citrus and berries with some toffee and a chocolate/bourbon twang. Complex and satisfying. Shared by the generous OmegaX.

Bottle 117/449? I think? Anyways, the aroma is big molasses, sherry like notes, wood, bourbon, chocolate, lightly earthy. Woah. Pour is jet black. Not much for a head. Flavors are, again, lightly oxidized bourbon and molasses with a chewy chocolate flavor and texture. Really enjoyable.
