Malt beverage aged in oak and with cherries added Kriek ale is a classic among Belgian ales created by adding whole fresh cherries (400 G/L) to a blend of young and old lambic, which provides both seasoning and sparks another fermentation resulting in a product of astonishing complexity. Oud Beersel Oude Kriek ale has no added sugar and contains no artificial flavourings or preservatives. Brewed since 1882. (from 2014 label) real cherries ... are slowly absorbed into the Lambic, which develops a fruity character and a ruby red colour. Oud Beersel Oude Kriek contains around 400 grams of cherries per litre, which is the most of its kind. The authentic production method of Oude Kriek is under European protection. UPDATED: MAR 9, 2024 (Bottle) Pours clear deep red with tiniest white head. Lovely aroma of cherries and yeast with hints of wood. Medium body with modest very fine carbonation. Lovely taste of cherries with yeast and wood notes. Excellent.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2023 Bottled 375ml. -at Goblet Zagreb. Darker ruby red coloured, medium sized off-white head, sour cherry nose. Sour cherry taste with notes of wood and mild yeasty touch in the finish.

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2023 Robe rouge sombre trouble, mousse plutôt abondante, rose sombre, ne reste qu'un disque irrégulier. Nez suret, on sent la cerise dans un 2e temps.Attaque acide marquée, fruité en finale, arômes de cerise bien nets en rétro-olfaction. C'est quand même assez raide, plus acide qu'aromatique. Boisé léger.

UPDATED: MAR 22, 2023 Bottle from Delhaize; bottled: 6/2021. Hazy red, stable, frothy, pink head. Aroma of lots of sour cherries, old blue grape, blue plum, lemon, vinegar, musty leather, oak. Taste has very sour cherry, cherry skin, plum stone and lemon acid over a funky vinegary and sourdoughy base. Ends tart, mouth-puckering with dry cherry skin, musty grape, old plum and gentle woody tannins. Medium body, fluffy texture, average carbonation. Full fruity Lambic. Belgian excellence in a bottle, available in the local supermarket. What more do you want?

Ruby red with a pink head. Cherry aroma with some wheat sourness. Sour taste with the sweetness from the krieken. Low bitter sour finish.
