UPDATED: MAR 20, 2024 Old Untappd checkin, April 5, 2016. Drank from the bottle. Flavor leans more stout than blueberry, which is a subtle but welcome note in the finish. Quite a unique stout.

UPDATED: JUN 27, 2019 Near to black, moderate beige head. Aroma: dark malts, roast, citrus hop, blueberry, nice esters. Medium body, soft carbonation. Taste: rather dry, roasted, fruity, coffee and hop at ending. Soft and balanced. Nice stuff.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2019 1/22/19 - 12 oz bottle - sable black motor oil like pour, mocha colored head initially thick, simmers down to cling to the edge of the glass. Creosote and blueberries in the aroma, quite aromatic. Solid flavor, baker's unsweetened chocolate, espresso roast, hint of berry jam sweetness in the finish. Nice, dry chalky mouthfeel. Thanks to Aurelius for holding one out for me!

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2019 Pours like Old English furniture polish. Somewhat more carbonated than some of their other stouts. Head is chocolate ice cream brown. Aroma is of well toasted blueberry Pop Tarts - lightly sweet, fruity, browned. Foam is metallic. Slightly tangy, blueberry, roast. Finish is a little astringent, and the body isn't as sturdy as some of the other stouts in the mixpack - Oatmeal, Too Cream. Enjoyable, entertaining, pretty rock solid just not their best. Pours a dark black with a great ambitious creamy head that stays the course for some time. Aromas of fresh raw blueberries (finally a beer with real blueberries!), chocolate, roast, slight brownie. Flavors slightly less attractive with medium blueberries, slight wood/smoke, light roast. Light to medium sweet slight smoke aftertaste. Perhaps the first stout I've had with genuine blueberries added.

Bottle pour into tulip glass from Redstone Liquors, Stoneham. Appearance is opaque black with nice sparkle at the edges of the glass, fleeting 1/2-finger width light brown head. Aroma is rich roasted malt, blueberry. Taste is equally sweet and earthy bitter roasted malt, chocolate notes with blueberry floating in the background. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft-to-average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, not complex by any means, a little light bodied and the blueberry could be a little stronger but good.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2018 Matige neus, redelijk vol mondgevoel, vrij korte afdronk. De bessen komen mooi terug in de smaak even als een beetje koffie en chocola.

Zwart bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is bitterzoet met iets van koffie, donkere chocolade en een vleugje fruit.

Color negro con capa de espuma marrón de dos dedos de grosor y buena retención. Carbonatacion inexistente. Textura oleosa, casi acuosa. Me gustaría con algo más de cremosidad pero tampoco soy de poner excesivas pegas en estos asuntos. Aroma a arándano por un tubo, malta torrefacta, chocolate y algo quemado de fondo que capto en algunos olfateos y en otros no, quizá ahumado. Sabor a arándanos, muy potente, con ligera acidez, perfectamente calibrada, malta torrefacta, cacao, chocolate, recuerdos muy lejanos de café al final del trago. Final que no considero licoroso, aun bebiendola caliente, alcohol perfectamente integrado. Toques torrefactos y ligeramente quemados en postgusto, junto con arándano. Interesante sería decir poco.

Aus der Flasche (2015) im 2018-05 getrunken. In der Nase ist eine ganze leichte Blaubeernote wahrnehmbar, doch am Gaumen bleibt davon nichts. Hier wird dieses doch sehr süffige Stout von einem kalten Kaffeearoma beherrscht.
