COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
On a recent trip through Belgium visiting the monastery breweries, we discovered an excellent barrel aged ale that had an incredibly satisfying flavor combination. Aging in oak barrels added a memorable richness, that we seek to achieve with this barrel aged Belgian-style barley wine-style ale. Being the ideal celebration beer to release on our 5-year anniversary, Barrel Aged Naked Evil is fermented with both British and Belgian yeasts and aged in whiskey barrels for a lightly spicy twist on this old-world beer style. Sweet malt flavors will become smoother and rich dark fruit characters will build with time to add a wonderful complexity and depth of flavor.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2021 8 ounce serving, draft, at The Hoppin” Frog in Akron, Ohio. Smell the malt and light bourbon aromas. Light brown and no head. Tapped and aged from 2014. Taste the malt, sweetness, and some leathery notes. Very smooth and alcohol is well hidden at 11.3 percent alcohol. Sweetness and light bourbon aftertaste. Just delightful! Cheers!

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2021 22oz bottle courtesy of Headbanger. Color is a deep dark amber with light carbonation and a thin tan head. Aroma is rich and sweet with notes of dried fruit, toffee, oak and more. Full body with a rich sweet mouthfeel. Flavor is big and rich with dried candied fruit, oak, salted caramel and dark chocolate. In the aftertaste the whisky comes out more with the chocolate and salted caramel. Overall this is one of the most complex brews I've ever had, it's almost too much.

Nocturne (4091) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - DEC 28, 2018
UPDATED: DEC 28, 2018 650ml bottle. Nut brown. Small head. Notes of maple, brown sugar, barrel, chocolate, tootsie roll. Very good – the saccharine bubblegum sweetness of the base beer is gone and it feels transformed.

PowY (4562) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - SEP 21, 2018
650 ml bottle at Sanders place. Pours a hazy light mahogany with a quickly disappearing beige head. The aroma if full of whiskey along with marzipan, sweet malts, nuts, caramel, coconut, raisins, vanilla and dark berries. Full body with a soft carbonation, a medium to medium-heavy sweetness, a light bitterness and some alcohol. The flavor starts with sweet malts up front - honey, marzipan, molasses, brown sugar, caramel - followed by whiskey, vanilla, nuts, burnt caramel and hints of cocoa. Finishes lightly woody with more whiskey, some residual sweetness and a warming feeling. Overall the sweet malts dominate while the whisky barrel notes are well integrated - very balanced and smooth. Very good! Aroma: 8 Appearance: 4 Taste: 8 Palate: 4 Overall: 17

650 ml bottle. Shared by PowY, many thanks!
Dark brown body, with a small, beige head.
Aroma of whisky, chocolate, brown sugar, caramel, cocoa, dried fruits, vanilla, sherry.
Tastes similar, with more sweet fruits, chocolate and caramel.
Medium, very oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes smooth, warm, medium sweet, a bit astringent, with toffee, chocolate, dried fruits, sherry, some whisky.

Tasty. Sweet and heavy, while really comfortable to drink. Very well integrated whisky, not too overpowering, leaving room for the typical Barley Wine notes, with the Belgian twist of the brown sugar and dried fruit notes. Balanced, characterful stuff.

Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 16

0,66l bottle at Sanders shared by Powy, big thanks. No obvious BB date. brown color, very small off white head. smells of marzipan, nutty, sherry, light oxidation, coconut, some whisky notes, very nice smell. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of brown sugar, molasses, marzipan, coconut, nutty, some whisky, very light mint. finishes lightly sweet with notes of marzipan, coconut and molasses. very nice one, reminds me a bit of the Firestone Walker Anniversary series, although this is a bit less pronounced and less complex. Overall lovely stuff though.
